Not using firefox anymore, here's why(Not really a question, more of an "I QUIT" rant).
So. I was a pretty loyal chrome user since it's Beta. Noticed that it used a lot of processes for each tab I had open.
I didn't like that.
So I installed Firefox.
Noticed that Firefox is very slow. I mean VERY SLOW. Youtube videos? 5+ mins to stream a 3 min video. If I am lucky.
Gmail? Last attempted login took 5 refreshes, and still took over 3 and a half mins before it finally let me in.
Tried these same things on Chrome. Got into Gmail in under 5 seconds. Youtube videos? Don't even need to let it stream ahead. Played the same video flawlessly.
Tried everything in the troubleshooting to make this slow issue go away. Don't like Safari, hate IE like it will give me the plague. Opera is... meh. Okay I guess. Marginally better than Firefox at this point. I'm sorry to say, I am going back to chrome. None of your solutions fixed the issues, or even offered marginal performance increases to warrant holding out hope that there may be something just around the corner to make this a great browser again.
So. With that said, Firefox, we were once good friends, but like a business investment, it's time to cut my losses and move on to bigger and better things.

this sound like issues with the protected mode of adobe's flash plugin (it would also be interesting which security software you're running) - you could try downgrading to flash 10.3 if you can't solve it otherwise.
I wish this were an issue with flash, but it's not. I haven't upgraded beyond Flash 10.3, and my security software is just avast free edition. I mean... I've got IE 8 installed, and even that is running faster than mozilla. I cannot use a browser that does not let me access content in a timely and expedient manner.
I even reset firefox, as per the instructions in the trouble shooting page, as a final resort after trying everything else, and the issues remain the same. I have a Toshiba Satellite with 10 gigs of memory, on a maximum allotment of 16. I have an i7 processor. I mean.. I'm no tech dummy, I'm smarter than the average, mainstream user - but this problem... just... ARGH! I cannot put my frustration into words. All I can do is sit here and growl and get upset and want to take it out on my laptop when I know it has nothing to do with my laptop.
The *only* thing I can think of... is maybe Mozilla does not like 64 bit operating systems? (Win7 64 bit, Ultimate edition)
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See "Creating a profile":
There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.
If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.
Make sure that you allow the Firefox and the plugin-container process in the firewall.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.
Try to boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.
