For the past several weeks, Firefox is constantly freezing.

I have Mac OS 10.7.4 and the spinning round ball comes up for every tab I click on, or for every link. I have cleared the cache, run the system diagnostics, updated the add-ons (which I thought might be the problem but it is still happening).

I am about to give up on Firefox, unless there is something that can be done to fix this.

I was having a similar problem (Windows PC) until recently in fact I'm waiting till the 24th to give it the OK if its fixed or not but yeah its been almost 24 days since FF last froze on me I think it has a lot to do with the latest Adobe flash updates but that's just some people maybe your problem is something else it could be some outdated add ons AKA extensions or plugins I know that I have some that are year overdue for an update so I would look into that first if I were you. PS: I know you checked add ons but did you check your extensions.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

See "Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile":

There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.

If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.
