Hi frankhardy, I use Wordpress on my own server, so I don't think I'll be able to replicate the issue you're seeing on Wordpress.com.

In Firefox 13, could you try the new Reset feature? This duplicates certain key data from your active settings folder into a new one, bypassing some add-ons and custom settings. Your plugins will still be active, but could be disabled manually if you like.

More information in this article: Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings.

If the new settings folder has the same problem, you can switch back if you like using Firefox's Profile Manager.

Does it make any difference?

Well, you probably should run Firefox 13 rather than Firefox 4...

When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.

1. Clear Firefox's Cache

orange Firefox button or Tools menu > Options > Advanced

On the Network mini-tab > Offline Storage : "Clear Now"

2. If needed, delete the site's cookies here (this will log you out)

While viewing a page on wordpress.com, right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"

Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

What version of Flash are you running? You can check for "Shockwave Flash" here:

orange Firefox button or classic Tools menu > Add-ons > Plugins

The 11.3.300.257 version has been superseded by a .262 version.

@cor-el: tried that, opened firefox in safe mode, but same problem the usage of firefox goes to 100% immediately as soon as i open my wordpress dashboard.

@jscher2000: first of all have multiple of versions of firefox on multiple laptops (v4, v13 both), tried with both same problem (if u want i can post info about v13 instead of v4 here), next i tried to remove cookies etc. nothing changed, i updated my shockwave flash to version 11.3.300.262, nothing changed....

thanks for the help, it solved my problem with firefox v13 but not with v4. wat i did was backed up firefox data using mozbackup (complete backup including extension everything), then clicked reset firefox and then tried to open wordpress dashboard and no usage at 100% now, and now tried to restore the data (complete restore) using mozbackup and still no hang on v13. dont know wat solved it or wat was causing the hang, but at least its woring on firefox v13
