How to importing bookmarks from a non-html file type (this was saved from Chrome about 6months back from an older version of chrome)

I had Chrome, and the bookmarks were not exported as such (definitely not an HTML file), instead it was copied from the C:\ directory - about 8 months ago. Now I'm trying to import them into Firefox, and am having no luck. I've tried renaming the file with a html extension and then importing it, but nothing seems to happen!

Google Chrome stores the bookmarks in a JSON file format (not the same as Firefox uses) in the Bookmarks file in the Google profile folder.

  • C:\Users\YourUsername\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\

Do you have such a file?

{
   "checksum": "ee601c2c8e34fb728377274921c467c0",
   "roots": {
      "bookmark_bar": {
         "children": [ {

Try to create such a folder and copy the file to that folder.
If that doesn't work then you need to install GC and try another time to copy the file to the GC profile folder.
