Firefox opens briefly for a few seconds and then crashes. I cannot open it in Safe Run mode either. The most recent crash id is below.

Oh it looks like this could be due to Trusteer Rapport. Try uninstalling that program.

I would be good to know:

  • what OS you are running
  • which version of Firefox
  • which addons and plugins you are using

Re "most recent crash ID is below" - looks like the situation is real earnest, because I can't see any ID in your mail, plus the points, mentioned above, should be included in your message.

I assume you have already read through the following article:

https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Firefox%20crashes

... so given the fact, Fx crashed in the safe mode too, we would really need your Crash ID.

Regards and stay in touch

Looks like Windows 7. Here's the crash report https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/c7c5f831-ba3e-4bf8-bb63-1c5722111103

Let me see if someone knows possible causes...

Win7 and Firefox 7.0.1

My guess is Trusteer Rapport is involved.

I don't know what you mean by Safe Run.

Try the Firefox SafeMode to see how it works there.
A troubleshooting mode, which disables most Add-ons.
(If you're not using it, switch to the Default Theme.)

  • You can open the Firefox 4/5/6/7 SafeMode by holding the Shft key when you use the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
  • Or use the Help menu item, click on Restart with Add-ons Disabled... while Firefox is running.

Don't select anything right now, just use "Continue in SafeMode."

To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before using the Firefox shortcut (without the Shft key) to open it again.

If it is good in the Firefox SafeMode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one.

Thanks everyone for the really quick response! I have uninstalled Trusteer Rapport and that seems to have solved the problem. All your help much appreciated, thanks again.
