After switching to Firefox 8, I'm no longer able to move tabs around by dragging them.
Nothing at all happens when I click and hold on a tab and try to move it around.

Are you using Tab Mix Plus?
In that case try the latest dev build: http://tmp.garyr.net/dev-builds/
Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
- Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

It must have been the Tab Mix Plus add-on, because I updated it as you suggested and all is better now. Thanks!
