Try opening a blank tab and clearing your cache. I have XP, too, and am very careful. I just open a blank tab, clear the cache and am able to continue working without exiting from FF.

To correct your problem..try first clearing your cache on FF, then exit out and download CCleaner. It's free. I've been using it for years, as I have an older computer and am careful. You can search for CCleaner and download free from Pirifoam. I save to desktop and download from there. Keep checking for updates, too.

CCleaner gets rid of crap left behind from uninstalling programs, clears all browsers of cookies, temp folders, passwords, etc. It's VERY fast, I run it several times a day, but I always run it before I sign off, then run my Norton virus scan...the new one (haven't switched to the newest yet, as it was just released). I love CCleaner! Have used it years, as have my friends.

I've never heard of Babylon...but I hope this will help.

10/28/11 - I just fixed this problem and found the solution in one of the other replies.
Here is the sequence for FF 7.1 (W7-HP) :
Note: You should, first, Uninstall the Babylon program with Control Panel or, I think, it will just re-infect FF.
1) Show the FF Toolbar (I hide mine) and select 'Tool"
2) Select 'Add-ons'
3) Select 'Extensions'
4) A list of extensions will appear;

   (On mine, Babylon was right at the top)

   Look for Babylon Toolbar; at the right will be two options:

   Disable     Remove

5) Click on 'Remove'; close the tabs and exit FF (restart FF).
6) The Babylon stuff should be gone.

What in the world is wrong with the 'Reply' box? Nothing I entered showed up in the right format and even appeared to alter the font and density of my entry. Editing did nothing to correct it and my reply doesn't look anything like what I entered. The information is there but not the way I formatted it.

I call for a babylon boycott send a email to the site and tell them that you will boycott anything and every thing associated with babylon... that will get them to get out and i bet it wont take long, just tell them that if they dont get out of your computer u will send email to companies that deal with them and that you will never deal with unless they presure that shity babylon gets out, it seems to simple but beileve me it will work...lets go people...

You might want to check out a program called Sandboxie it sandboxes your browser that meaning in short that anything you do wile sandboxed wont be saved on your PC unless you configure it to save it for instance your history but this viral extension wouldn't be a problem if you had a sandboxed browser you can find Sandboxie at sandboxie.com there's booth a free version and paid version for around $40 for a lifetime license that you can you use on as many Windows computers that you own. I highly recommend it I have it and use it all the time of course it wont be able to protect if you download something to your PC that's infected lets say a video for example but other than that your set no more worries about viruses or malware.

I am fed up with this Babylon virus nonsense - it needs to be dealt with properly (Firefox should have some security bit that prevents this from attaching itself). I DO NOT WANT BABYLON.... Take it out. It ruins my Firefox experience. I'll start using another browser soon.

May I point out that normally Babylon is
not part of Firefox, or provided by Mozilla(Firefox). *
It is something that you; presumably inadvertently; have installed. Many see it as an advantage that Firefox may be customised and used with a plethora of software extensions.

Babylon, may be seen as a problem by many users, but some will deliberately install and use it.

Links to general solutions are already given in this thread. If you have a specific problem with trying to remove Babylon I suggest you start your own thread by asking a question, and provide full details of your problem, and the steps you have tried. I am sure it will be possible to remove the problem software.

With Firefox 13 it is hoped there will be a simple button that creates a new profile, that may solve many problems without needing to be a geek. (Some users are using this on the Beta channel now http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/.../beta-desktop )
