I prefer icons in the navigation toolbar and text in the bookmarks toolbar. How can I set different preverences for them? Also, can I reduce the spacing or change the font size in the Bookmarks toolbar?

You can use the Bookmarks Deiconizer extension to remove the icons from the bookmarks toolbar - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/bookmarks-deiconizer/
