I tried changing keyword.url string in about:config from MyStart to "http://www.google.com.my/search?q=", clicked OK and rebooted, but the search box at top right is still the same MyStart Search.

"search box at top right"

Have you tried to switch to a different search engine?

That support article also tells you how to remove a search engine that you don't want, if you scroll down that page a bit.

kevinsenjaya

I did that but it didn't remove mystart from the address line. It still comes up on the address line every time I open it. Jim

Much as I don't want to I guess I'll have to switch to some other browser. MyStart is poison.

Lets say that most of us are geniuses and network devs, and now lets not....can you provide more to that answer, because when I copy your solution id does nothing ,I still end up with freaking mystart ,and lets not pretend that mystart is an search engine, but a malware ,because whenever it's open someone makes some money on it ether we know that fact or not

It's do simply like kevinsanjaya about:config and type in the filter with mystart and reset thus filter, it will be back to default string.

Since I do not know when I got this MALWARE I do not see any sense in a seemingly endless system restoring until I find the correct restoration point (if and when I do, which is a big question).

Just tried IncrediMail HC. My FF 14 does not even have the facilities they refer to (Options - Security Search Settings) ! What kind of BS is that?

Has anyone consulted BleepingComputer.com on the problem? They seem to have the solution. The only thing is that it takes several days of continuous and voluminous correspondence between a consultant and an individual MyStart victim, installation of several software programs, etc. Therefore, as I see it, a universal solution helping ALL who suffered from this MALWARE does not exist yet, demanding extra attention from Mozilla developers i.e. creating a "Automatic Removal of IncrediMail MyStart" Add-On. Any possibilities of suing IncrediMail for payment of huge compensations to all who suffered?

This is a setting in the IncrediMail program and not in Firefox.

Do restore things is needed time just for restored from the backup, neither all of your program on the drive c:// will be vanish from the current time to choose to restored, there are many to do that things to do this, but i suggest using what I'm shared to you ;) It's just easy and quick. Maybe just needed 5 minutes to do this.
