History only displays today's pages

I want to be able to search old pages that I have visited but History only displays pages visited "today" how do I change the setting?

Is Firefox set to clear your history? Check your Privacy settings to make sure.

I feel slightly stupid - I looked at every other Option apart from Privacy. Thank you very much for your help
