I'm on windows 10 in EU with the free extended support. Everytime I open a new tab a banner appears asking me to enable backup to prepare for windows 11. I DON'T want to enable backup. I clicked dismiss but it keeps showing up all the time, it's incredibly annoying.

Vincent, hopefully this article will help stop the notices for the new backup feature. See the section "How do I opt out of recommendations in Firefox?".
