Google appears to be taking over control of my firefox page. When I open Firefox, Google search and other functions appear on screen and take over. Also, most of my saved bookmarks have disappeared .This probably happened when I got tech help to deal with problems accessing my MS and Google accounts. I have always used the Google search engine but it only when I clicked on the search bar. Now it seems to have taken over and I seem only to be ableto access sites using Google Can I restore lost bookmarks so I can go direct to internet sites?

Hi Weymouth, let's tackle those separately.

Bookmarks

Can you see all your bookmarks in the Library window (Ctrl+Shift+O as in Organizer)?

If all three categories (Menu, Toolbar, Other) seem to show only the ones that come with Firefox, try the steps in the first section of the following article: Recover lost or missing Bookmarks. Is there another profile with more of your data?

If there is nothing at all, Firefox might not have been able to access the Places database at startup. Could you first exit/restart Firefox and see whether that makes any difference?

Google on Home or New Tab

Could you check your home page and new tab page settings? This article should get you started: How to set the home page.
