I live in New Zealand. I've recently come back here after a holiday in Europe. My phone is set to automatically pickup the correct time from my local phone provider and it's done that so I'm now UTC + 13.

My Fennec browser isn't reflecting that and still thinks it's in the UK.

144.0.0 (Build #1440020) GV: 144.0-20251022155017 AS: 144.0.1 OS: Android 12

Is there a setting I can change? Or someway to flush that cached value?

Thanks.

PS here's an example of the problem:

Hi asjl,

Thats not a Firefox issue

Ιn the screenshot it looks like Glenfield was selected. There is such a location in New Zealand and also in Europe. Have you correctly selected Glenfield in New Zealand or...

I suggest you try selecting the location again from "change address".

I've tried it again with a place that's definitely in NZ same problem. If I try it with a different browser (duckduckgo) it works fine. I'm also seeing issues with my local bus timetable - catchy.nz - where the times are offset by 13 hours.

Firefox generally uses the operating system's time zone.

If the issue is only with the catchy.nz, they might have cached bad timezone information. You can clear Cache/Cookies for for that site Open the website catchy.nz Click the padlock icon (🔒) next to the URL. Click "Clear cookies and site data..." Refresh the page and re-check.

You can test in Firefox's Safe Mode This helps determine if an extension is causing the problem. Firefox Troubleshoot Mode (Safe Mode): Click the menu button Click "Help" and then "Troubleshoot Mode...". Click "Restart". If the problem disappears, an extension is the culprit. You'll need to go to your Add-ons and disable them one by one to find the source

It's not just catchy.nz - I'm also seeing it with the official bus app.

Plus the supermarket site.

I've tried clearing the cookies and disabling any extensions. No change. I've also manually reset the time zone on the phone to different values. Fennec continues think it's in London!

I've got lots of desktop shortcuts on my phone. I really don't want to reinstall

ok you can try

1. Restart phone, if you haven't already.

2. Force Stop and Restart Fennec:

Go to your Android Settings > Apps > Find Fennec > Tap Force Stop.

Open Fennec again. A full restart of the app might force it to re-read the system's current time zone.

3. Clear Fennec's Cache and Storage

Go to Android Settings > Apps > Fennec > Tap on Storage & Cache.

First, try tapping Clear cache. This is generally safe and won't delete your bookmarks or passwords.

If that doesn't work, consider Clear storage. WARNING: This will reset the browser to its default state, meaning you will lose saved passwords, history, and bookmarks unless they are synced. Only do this if you have your data backed up or synced.

So each step in the above saw no change in the behaviour until I did Clear Storage. So it now works.

This feels like a pretty brutal solution to solving this problem. There's clearly a bug in there somewhere which may only be triggered in some weird set of circumstances - I was in three different time zone in just over a day and I wouldn't discount UTC +13 hours as a factor.

Ho hum. I'll get back to configuring my desktop webapps. Which of course don't get backed up.

Thanks for the help. It's a shame we couldn't do better than essentially reinstall Fennec
