I find it a bit concerning that when receiving an email from Firefox about a new sign-in, Win 10 is given instead of Win 11. They should be able to tell which version I am running. Maybe this is Relay for Windows versions LOL.

Has anybody else found this issue?

Firefox on Windows 11 reports that it is running on Windows 10 (in the user agent string). This might be for backwards compatibility with sites that micromanage features based on version numbers, and/or it might be to reduce points of differentiation used in tracking. Either way, it's normal.

Though perhaps the real reason is due to Windows 11 is basically based on same NT 10 as Windows 10.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_NT#Releases

Firefox since 116.0 has required Windows 10, 11 to run so you are not going to see anything but NT 10 in the Firefox UserAgent, at least until there is a new version of Windows on a different NT.

Ok. Sound reasonable. I was wondering since version number is used by a lot of web sites to check for a different computer for security reasons.

My location is also reported as "Sydney, NSW, Australia (estimated)". This is a very long way from my location but as I am on satellite broadband this is sort of normal. It is usually Melbourne these days. I don't think I have seen Sydney before so maybe a coin was used lol.

This is a situation I am immensely pleased about. Websites don't know where I am located. It was Brisbane before Melbourne. The transmit/receive station.

Mozilla has been making the UA less revealing and more generic since Firefox 16.0.1.

The UA has not shown the minor update versions since Fx 16.0.1 (or 16.0.2 I forget). Not sure when it started but it no longer shows you using Firefox on 32-bit Windows or Linux as it shows as if you have a 64-bit OS. The Firefox UA on macOS shows as macOS 10.15 even if you are using a current version of macOS as macOS 10.15 is the minimum for Firefox since 116.0 to current. Also before it used to show the Firefox build date in the UA in which you stood out more if you tested Trunk now Nightly channel builds as that has been made generic for a long time.

That sounds like a good thing. The less information available the more secure you are. Thanks for that information. It seems my concern was completely misguided which is great.
