1. Check Windows Version:

   • Ensure that your Windows 10 installation is up to date. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for any available updates. Install any pending updates and restart your computer.

2. Run Firefox as Administrator:

   • Sometimes, running Firefox with administrative privileges can help with installation issues.
   • Right-click on the Firefox shortcut and select Run as administrator. Then try to update again.

3. Check System Requirements:

   • Make sure your system meets the minimum requirements for the latest version of Firefox. While most Windows 10 installations should be compatible, it's worth checking if there are any specific requirements for the version you're trying to install.

4. Reinstall Firefox:

   • If the update continues to fail, consider uninstalling Firefox and then downloading the latest version directly from the official Firefox website. This can sometimes resolve issues related to corrupted installations.
   • Before uninstalling, make sure to back up your bookmarks and any important data.

5. Check for Corrupted Files:

   • There may be corrupted files in your Windows installation that are causing the issue. You can run the System File Checker tool:
       ◦ Open Command Prompt as an administrator (search for "cmd" in the Start menu, right-click, and select "Run as administrator").
       ◦ Type sfc /scannow and press Enter. This will scan for and attempt to repair any corrupted system files.

6. Check for Compatibility Mode:

   • If Firefox is set to run in compatibility mode, it may cause issues. Right-click on the Firefox shortcut, select Properties, go to the Compatibility tab, and ensure that "Run this program in compatibility mode for" is unchecked.

7. Disable Antivirus/Firewall Temporarily:

   • Sometimes, security software can interfere with downloads and installations. Temporarily disable your antivirus or firewall and try the update again. Remember to re-enable it afterward.

8. Contact Mozilla Support:

   • If none of the above solutions work, consider reaching out to Mozilla support for further assistance. They may have specific insights or solutions for your situation.
