Lately I've noticed that the longer I use my Firefox browser during the day the more memory it uses up. If let alone it eventually takes up so much computer memory that everything on my computer slows to a crawl and I have to either exit Firefox or even reboot. Is there any way to stop this? I'm wondering if there are any Firefox features or add-ons that I can do without. I'm not looking for anything elaborate out of Firefox, just basic internet usage.

I suggest closing tabs you are not currently using, particularly sites such as Facebook and Reddit which use 'infinite' scrolling. You can reopen them later via History > Recently closed tabs. The default number of tabs which can be reopened is 25 but you can change that number in the following preference in about:config. browser.sessionstore.max_tabs_undo
