Hi there, I have been trying to get into a Government site that I have to use and I continually, only from today, get a message saying the Certificate is outdated. What can I do to override this issue? Cheers!

It says Warning: Potential Security Risk Ahead. It then goes on to say: Firefox detected an issue and did not continue to apps.planningportal.nsw.gov.au. The website is either misconfigured or your computer clock is set to the wrong time.

It’s likely the website’s certificate is expired, which prevents Firefox from connecting securely. If you visit this site, attackers could try to steal information like your passwords, emails, or credit card details.

What can you do about it?

The issue is most likely with the website, and there is nothing you can do to resolve it. You can notify the website’s administrator about the problem.

Learn more… Then it has a GO BACK (Recommended) button and a ADVANCED Button.

You probably can create an override using the Advanced button. And then tell them to get their act together.

To later remove an exception after the site is updated:

Open the Settings page --

  • Windows: "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Settings (previously "Options")
  • Mac: "3-bar" menu button (or Firefox menu) > Settings or Preferences
  • Linux: "3-bar" menu button (or Edit menu) > Settings or Preferences
  • Any system: type or paste about:preferences into the address bar and press Enter/Return to load it

In the tiny search box at the top of the page, type cert and Firefox should filter the page.

Click the "View Certificates" button to open the Certificate Manager dialog.

Click the "Servers" heading to show your saved exceptions. Then you can highlight one and click "Delete" to remove it.

It's a bit hard to tell the Australian Government to get their act together. This problem has only started today. Thank you for you instructions though.

Well, you could simply submit a tech support ticket on the site advising them of the problem, but most likely, someone is already yelling at someone else about it...
