How can I efficiently deduce which Add On is thwarting my Firefox tabs from loading, since 5 hours ago?

6 hours ago, I shut down my Windows 10 laptop to buy lunch.

1 hour later, I turned on my laptop. But then Firefox stopped loading any tabs. My Internet — my other browsers like Chrome and Edge — have all been working perfectly. See below — Firefox in "Troubleshoot Mode" works perfectly!

Therefore, is one of my ≥ 30 Add Ons the glitch? How can I most productively suss out which Add On, without disabling each of my ≥ 30 Add Ons singly?

Hi

The best way is to deactivate half of your add-ons, see if the issue remains, then keep repeating that process in the half where the issue happens until you narrow down which one it is.

An add-on is not necessarily the cause of your problem. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/diagnose-firefox-issues-using-troubleshoot-mode

Note that the screenshot show you use an unstable Nightly build, so you can expect issues and best is to have another (release) version installed as a fallback in case of issues with Nightly.

If it works in Troubleshoot Mode and in normal mode with all extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) disabled then try to find which extension is causing the problem by enabling one extension at a time until the problem reappears.

Close and restart Firefox after each change via one of these just to be sure (e.g. startup cache issues):

  • "3-bar" menu button -> Exit (Power button)
  • Windows: File -> Exit
  • Mac: Firefox -> Quit Firefox
  • Linux: File -> Quit
