V89 absolutely dreadful. Uninstalled this and reverting to Edge until Mozilla sack persons responsible for this dysfunctional new version. Where has the functionality gone? Why has Mozilla turned its back on those with sight problems?

Hi,

We appreciate your feedback on the recently redesigned Firefox browser.

We set out in 2021 to reimagine Firefox's design to be fast, modern and inviting. With the latest 89 release, we’re bringing you a modern new look designed to streamline and calm things down so you have a fresh new web experience every time you use Firefox.

Is there anything in particular that you would like to see improved or fixed?

I would like to see everything fixed so it is more, rather than much less than V88. It is obvious from your very strange comments that you have no wish to meet users needs. Try "calm things down" - what planet?????

V89 looks silly, wasted screen space, entirely dysfunctional for people with less than perfect eyesight, position of everything changed for NO good reason. I'm off to Edge, pending trying other browsers for functionality when I have time.

Hi mikewattam, which are the parts with reduced visibility? One way to add more contrast to the toolbar area of the browser is to change the theme -- the System/Light themes may not work well for people who need higher contrast.

If you prefer the colors of the "Default" theme from Firefox 57-88, someone created an add-on theme that emulates it. You can give it a try here:

https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/photon-colors/

Looks like:

If that color doesn't suit you, the Firefox Color extension lets you create your own theme:

You are missing the main issue completely. I don't want to see a screen containing mainly white space. The icons are now very small. Thew top half of the screen is devoted almost solely to the Funnyfox logo and most icons now off screen and need to be scrolled down to. And for what real-life purpose? Silly change for silly reasons. Now makes Edge look far more relevant.

I think you are referring to the built-in Firefox Home / new tab page (Search, Top Sites, Highlights, etc.). It sounds like the revised design doesn't work well on your display resolution. There is a preference to switch back to the old layout, but I don't know how long we will have it. Here's how to change it:

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button accepting the risk.

(2) In the search box in the page, type or paste newNew and pause while the list is filtered

(3) Double-click the browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.newNewtabExperience.enabled preference to switch the value from true to false

More info on about:config: Configuration Editor for Firefox.

Thank you for bothering to reply. I don't unfortunately have time to waste upon something which may or may not be available for a mere few minutes or weeks, then have to try to get used to the V89 dumbed-down home screen. The heart of it is that I really don't see any usefulness in the dumbed-down home screen, the reverse is true. Reduced functionality certainly didn't work for me. Neither did so much empty white space. Nor did I see any trace of style or design.

Hopefully sense will eventually prevail and if I happen to spot a collection of positive functionality improvements, I may consider going back to Firefoo. It currently looks like that will be an outside possibility and not an expectation.
