The issue's been going on since yesterday, the app will freeze up like it's about to crash, but then it'll just pop back up. It does it repeatedly and nothing I've done has fixed it, from restarting my computer to closing the browser. Its only gotten worse and I haven't been able to find any relevant information on how to fix this.

There might be a problem with saving session data and updating the files in the sessionstore-backups folder.

Are the files (recent.jsonlz4 and recent.baklz4) in the sessionstore-backups folder updated during the session and does Firefox create sessionstore.jsonlz4 at the main level when you close Firefox ?

You can check for problems with the sessionstore.jsonlz4 file in the Firefox profile folder that stores session data.

  • rename/remove sessionstore.jsonlz4 and sessionstore.js

You may also have to rename the sessionstore-backups folder.

When sessionstore.jsonlz4 is deleted you lose pinned-tabs and open tabs and you will have to recreate them, so if necessary make a note or bookmark them. sessionstore.jsonlz4 is only present in the Firefox profile folder when Firefox is closed.

You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link}

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

Nope, safe mode hasn't solved anything. It stopped for a bit but it came right back in minutes.

Looks like that fixed it so far. I'll keep an eye on it, but deleting the jsonlz4 files did solve the freezing loop.
