Suddenly, a yellow icon with an explanation point in it has appeared over thee horizontal bars in the upper right of my tool bar section. When I click on it a warning reads "Reconnect to Firefox Account." I never knew I was not connected and since I'm able to write this, right here in a Firefox support group page with my account, I have a feeling I may still be conmected to my Firefox account. When I click on that warning icon I'm led to believe I should do something with this thing called Sync. I have to guess this is a Firefox software corruption or someone has hacked into Firefox and this is a phishing tool or malware.

How do I get rid of the yellow icon and the Sync stuff?

It looks like you were at one point connected to the Firefox Sync service and for one reason or another it has logged you out.

You can press the Sign in button to log back into your Firefox Account or you can press the Remove account button to unlink your Firefox Account on that device, if you no longer wish to use the service on that computer.

Firefox Sync is a service that can be used to share some of your data with other devices that you are signed in on. For example, I use Firefox Sync so that my bookmarks on my desktop computer are also available on my laptop. It's a feature that some people find useful, but it's by no means required to use Firefox.

Your Firefox Account contains only your email address. There's no way to link a telephone number to your Firefox Account, so Mozilla doesn't know that information.

Your Firefox Account is a single sign on account that's used to access a variety of different Mozilla-run services, like this support website for example.
