Howdy. Some pages won't open, although the URL is correct. Copying that URL will usually open in Edge. Also many pictures, and/or ads won't show, just the revolving circle, or broken picture icon, but again some wil show in the Edge. But I prefer to use FF if possible. I have tried disabling things like Duck Duck Go and FF security etc, etc, but maybe there is something I'm not aware of. At least one place (AlSears) said their pic is PDF, but other PDFs open. The following URL is Auckland Motorway cameras, and many of those do not open, but show the broken pic icon, but everything is fine in The Edge. https://www.aucklandmotorways.co.nz/

The following URL, the Upgrade link just has the circle running. https://store.alsearsmd.com/?s=LIFETIME#

New Zealand official Met Service weather, if I change from 7 Days to 48 hours, or vice versa, FF completely seizes up and I have to End Task in Task Manager. https://www.metservice.com/towns-cities/locations/auckland

I'm not aware of any AdBlockers Plugins and extensions shown below.

Any thoughts, anyone?

I'm not really quite sure why, but most stuff appears to be working okay, apart from AlSears, and sometimes the Met Service. So thank you everyone for all your help. I will keep this page with its suggestions, for the future. Thank you everybody.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link}

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

Note: DuckDuck is known to cause issues.

Those images on www.aucklandmotorways.co.nz only work if Firefox requests them via the http:// protocol. If https:// is forced then the images fail to load. This can happen if HTTPS-Only is enabled or if you use an extension that forces a secure connection or otherwise force HTTPS.

Hi guys. Strangely, the motorway pics were all there tonight, apart from 2 known problem pics! The missing lot haven't been obtainable for yonks! That was before trying any trouble shooting! I wonder what will happen tomorrow! Also Met Service was still locking up before trying anything. It is now working normally both in Safe Mode and normal. Again, tomorrow? HTTPS only was not enabled. AlSears is still not working in either mode. We will wait and see what happens over the next few days, and/or if I reboot. Anyway, in the meantime, thanks for your help :)

If you get a loading spinner like you mentioned with store.alsearsmd.'com then this usually indicates a problem with blocked JavaScript.

If you use extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) that can block content (Adblock Plus, NoScript, Disconnect, Ghostery, Privacy Badger, uBlock Origin) always make sure such extensions do not block content.

Firefox shows a purple shield instead of a gray shield at the left end of the location/address bar in case Enhanced Tracking Protection is blocking content. You can click shield icon for more detail and possibly disable the protection. You can check the Web Console for messages about blocked content.

You can try these steps in case of issues with webpages:

You can reload webpage(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.

  • hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
  • press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
  • press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)

Clear the Cache and remove the Cookies for websites that cause problems via the "3-bar" Firefox menu button (Options/Preferences).

"Remove the Cookies" for websites that cause problems:

  • Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security
    Cookies and Site Data: "Manage Data"

"Clear the Cache":

  • Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security
    Cookies and Site Data -> Clear Data -> Cached Web Content: Clear

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration or userChrome.css is causing the problem.

  • switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Themes
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window
