Hi, I deleted my "save bookmark" little star (that turns blue) in the URL bar. I have tried various options to restore it, but cannot find it anywhere. I have tried the advice to go to "customize" and drag and drop the option, but the option does not exist in there (as per this question posted about 5 years ago)

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1076141

Also watched this video, but again, the star he sees present in the customize options, does not exist for me. Perhaps it does not exist anymore at all in newer versions of Firefox. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UtsMaYzxPq0

How do I restore the star?

As an aside, I really wish that, when yo click on the star button, it wouldn't come up with a tiny "keyhole" size window in which to save my bookmarks, insert tag/search words for future searches etc. I have a huge range of saved web pages, and I rely heavily on being able to search my library of bookmarks using these key search words. It would be best if the full blown Bookmark window popped up whenever you saved a bookmark, and you could put in all your search words/phrases etc. A Description entry point would be useful too, eg "Aunt Sally might like these flowers for her birthday, I was thinking of the blue ones". Just some feedback on an otherwise really solid browser, thank you.

Hi, try clicking the three dots in the address bar, then right-clicking the add or edit bookmark option that is at the top. You should be able to add it back in that menu.

Note that you can open the bookmarks sidebar and drag a bookmark to a folder.

You can do the same if you add the Bookmarks Menu button (star on a tray) to the Navigation Toolbar and drag a tb to this toolbar button.

You can add the "Bookmarks Menu" button that shows the bookmarks in a drop-down list to the Navigation Toolbar via these steps:

  • click the bookshelf 57 library icon icon on the Navigation Toolbar or alternatively use the Library menu in the "3-bar" Firefox menu button New Fx Menu drop-down list
  • click Bookmarks
  • click "Bookmarking Tools", then click "Add Bookmarks Menu to Toolbar"
The Bookmark Menu button Bookmark Menu icon (star on tray) should appear on the Navigation Toolbar.

You can also drag the Bookmarks Menu button from the Customize palette to the Navigation Toolbar

Were you able to restore the star by right-clicking this item in the 3-dot "Page actions" drop-down list to add its button to the location bar ?

Note that you remove the star and not the bookmark via "Remove from Address Bar" in the right-click context menu.
