The definition of "secure" for a website has nothing to do with whether what you are doing is secure in the vernacular sense. Yes, it is only going to your router, inside your private network. A browser is not going to differentiate this, it only knows that it is not a secure connection (HTTPS). A browser doesn't care if you are in Private Address Space or whatever. :)

You can just ignore the message / icon or dismiss it if necessary as cor-el suggests.

Isn't router.asus.com actually just a redirect to your router? (Honestly i don't know why router companies do this.)

HTTP, by definition, is not secure. HTTPS is. Asus might say it is "secure" in the sense that nothing bad will happen to you, but it is not at all secure by the rules and normal best practices.

Try logging in with HTTPS, or create an exception if you are allowed. I don't have a way to replicate this to see exactly what FF does when displaying the "not secure" message. Might you post a screenshot of this?

Hello and thank you. the whole address is http://router.asus.com/Main_Login.asp and they claimed its secure since its a private network and only going to my router.I attempted https yesterday before asking for help, and as for creating an exception Im not quite sure what you mean. Thank you and have a great evening. Mark

That could be caused by using the http:// protocol and not the secure https:// protocol.

Firefox 51+ will mark HTTP connections with a padlock with a strike through and shows "Connection is Not Secure" if you click the Control Center 'i' button at the left end of the location/address bar.

Note that this message is meant as a warning that you could be vulnerable and that it shouldn't prevent (block) you from accessing the website.

You can press the ESC key to close a doorhanger with a warning message in the name and password field.
