Newsgroup new function

Δημοσιεύτηκε

Hello, I'm using TB for NG. I notice that I have some difficulties due to the lack of some functions that maybe already exist or are implemented in some plugins. Here they are: 1) When I mark a discussion to keep an eye on, there is a way to get a notification that a new message has arrived:?: 2) If I search for a message it is correct that a list is made but when I click on the message that interests me it should open the whole tread. It would be advisable for the searched messages to be underlined with a different color when the tread is opened. 3) The font size is small for me. Is there a way to enlarge it and make it default with the new dimensions:?: Thanks

3) The font size is small for me. Is there a way to enlarge it and make it default with the new dimensions:?

If you mean the overal UI font size:

In Thunderbird 'Menu icon (3 lines)' > Options > Options > 'Advanced' > 'General' tab click on 'Config Editor'

In top search type: Pixels look for this line: layout.css.devPixelsPerPx; By default it should have a Value of -1.0 Double click on that line to open a small window. Clear the content and type: 1.2 or 1.25 or 1.5 click on OK

You can increase font size by increasing the value.eg: 1.2 or 1.25 or 1.5

1) When I mark a discussion to keep an eye on, there is a way to get a notification that a new message has arrived:?

You can set up Thunderbird to notify you when any new mail arrives. 'Menu icon (3 lines)' > Options > Options > General When new messages arrive: You can opt to show an alert, show a try icon and also play a sound.

2) If I search for a message it is correct that a list is made but when I click on the message that interests me it should open the whole tread.

You do not mention which search method you are using. If you are using 'Global Search': You will see a result that shows more filtering options and a list which shows a portion of each email. If you click on an email which does have threads then it will open with threads available to open/close as you wish.

In Addition: Click on 'Open email as List' - it really is a link :) see image below as guide. This will allow you to select the > arrow at start of subject to open/close the thread.

Generally: In the Thread Pane where you see the list of emails depending upon what folder you open. Right click on email and select 'Open Message in conversation' This will open that email in a new tab and it will list all the threads both sent and received. This can be useful if you want to view it in an uncluttered manner - no other emails.

TB doesn't provide notifications or labels for replies to your posts or watched threads, unlike some dedicated newsgroup readers, e.g. Xnews for Windows. It's a very basic newsreader. You can create filters to tag or star messages of interest, or apply View/Threads/Watched Threads with Unread.

You do not mention which search method you are using. If you are using this method: 'Menu icon' > 'Find' > 'Search Messages' If you select the email then it will only open the email you selected.

If you highlight an email in list and click on 'Open in Folder' button It will redirect and open email in the folder, where it would also show you the threads. The 'Search Messages' results will still stay open in focus, so you would need to move that window to the side, so you have a view of Thunderbird Folder Pane and Thread Pane (message list).

Thanks for your attention. The indicated function does not work, it does not signal it visually or with audio and I think it refers to emails. What I was looking for was a function related to newsgroup messages in particular tread followed. See you.

I need a multi-operating system program. ;) With a few more small functions it is absolutely in line with the needs of standard users.

I've tried but it's not going. I can't find the voice, among those available, to open the connected tread.
