I used to have an extension or theme that would display each open tab in a different pastel color. It quit working some time ago. Also, how can I make all the tab texts bold and/or larger?

Hi Patty,

Here is a previous solution to increasing tab text tab size from our valued contributors: Need to increase the font size of tabs

It sounds like your tabs are no longer showing different pastel colors for your extension is that correct?

You can Update Add-ons Automatically by following these steps:

  1. Click the menu button on the top right
  2. About halfway down the list click Add-ons
  3. Select Extensions
  4. Click the gear icon to the right of Manage Your Extensions
  5. Check-mark Update Add-ons Automatically

There are also a variety of other extensions you can choose from in the search bar on the top right.

Here is a quick result for color tabs:

Let me know if this helps or if I can better assist you.

Hello, I would like to add to the above answer on the matter of changing the color of a new tab to a pastel tone.

I am presently not aware of a similar add-on specifically for pastel tabs but I believe VivaldiFox will partially do the trick through a small workaround. The process from what I tried is as follows:

  1. Install VivaldiFox
  2. Click on the Vivaldi icon on your toolbar and select "Options"
  3. In Options, scroll down to "Themes" and either modify the existing light theme or create a new one by clicking the + icon.
  4. Leave everything as-is and lower the Opacity slider under "Toolbar".

You might need to switch up a few more settings there to help it suit your personal taste regarding colors. I have attached a picture of the Themes panel below for further assistance - the area in question is outlined with a red rectangle.

I hope this helps. Have a good day!

Fancy, I did try installing a tab color extension. I had deleted my previous one some months ago when it stopped working. None of them worked at all when I tried installing each, one at a time today. Some of the authors of the extensions said in their notes that their extensions no longer worked. There were a number to choose from. I tried them all.

My original extension made every tab a different pastel color, making it very easy to jump back and forth from one to another, easily identifying the two (or more) as needed.

Ive, Thanks for your reply. It's not just the new tab I want colors for. I had an extension that quit working some many months ago that gave every tab a slightly different color, and the colors I picked happened to be pastel. It made jumping back and forth between tabs super fast without having to read the text on each when I had a number of tabs open.

I will give VivaldiFox a look.

Though I didn't find a way to make each tab have a different color, I did find the Firefox Color extension that helped my tabs top be easier to read and see. I built a custom color theme on the Firefox Color extension site and it is applied to my browser and saved in my personal view of the extension homepage, but it doesn't show up on my Firefox themes page as something to pick and choose from in my settings. I've settled for this now.

Ive, I've already tried installing Colorful Tabs again, but the only colored tabs are in a menu on the right side of the browser window when you choose to take up valuable space displaying them next to the browser window. The tabs across the top of the tool bar do not become colorful. Those are the ones I was asking about. That was the extension I used to use some time back that stopped functioning properly. I tried it again, but like all the other tab coloring extensions, it no longer works.
