created a new profile, is faster!! BUT...you can't tell which profile's being used..???!!!

I'd think that'd be a no-brainer, having the profile name SOMEwhere...like in the (optional) title bar, maybe?? I don't anything in the CUSTOMIZATION.....hmmmm.

Any ideas?

If you type "about:profiles" into your address bar (without quotes), and press enter, you can see your profile information

Hi Criticatlarge, I'm not aware of a way to figure out the running profile of a particular Firefox window, either from its title bar or the thumbnail on the Windows Taskbar. Probably the easiest way to quickly spot the difference is to use a very different theme for the toolbar area in each profile. You either can install a colorful theme from the Add-ons site or use the Firefox Color extension to customize.

The "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page shows the profile path as well on the Profile Directory line.

  • Help -> Troubleshooting Information -> Profile Directory:
Windows: Show Folder; Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder

..the real question is the same....why dint someone think to include <profile_name> in the TITLE bar? during design, I mean. or even now, it's open-source, but I'm not a developer....

Why didn't someone think of something? Your guess is as good as mine. Historically, multiple profiles have been a niche feature with very minimal UI development, and I suppose advanced users just kept in their heads what different profiles they had open, or looked at the different toolbars/bookmarks.

I don't know whether Mozilla will build more UI around a multi-profile experience in the future. One change Chrome users have mentioned is separating the open windows from different profiles on the Taskbar rather than having them all consolidate under the same Firefox icon. If that happens, it would be a good time to think about adding a title bar label.
