Can the UI be tweaked a bit to avoid confusion?
The cut-off for addons, preferences and cut-off for bookmarks all in close proximity are a bit confusing to use. I don't have a suggestion on how to fix it, just wanted to point out that it might be ripe for improvement.

Thank you for the screenshot. If I could summarize your suggestion:
The "overflow menu button" looks the same for different kinds of items. In order to quickly access additional bookmarks or toolbar buttons, you need to take extra time to check the context (i.e., what bar the button is on). It would be simpler if the icons on the different buttons provided more information.
Is that fair?
Unfortunately, feature change requests tend to get lost here. You could submit those comments and suggestions through one or more of the following links, or recently I saw someone created a Change.org petition (no idea whether that helps):

Of course, that might take a long time. While Firefox doesn't include a built-in method to modify those buttons, you can use the optional userChrome.css file to apply style rules to the user interface, including substituting an image for a built-in icon, or changing its color.
