Cannot open hyperlinks using Firefox. Cannot sign in to e-mail account cannot access links in websites.
Windows 7 operating system. Have tried the following:
Cleared cache Opened regedit and confirmed Firefox as default browser. Changed default to IE. Changed back to Firefox as default then rebooted. Uninstalled Firefox and re- installed latest version. Rebooted. Turned Zone Alarm Firewall off . Turned Avira Firewall on (Avira uses Windows Firewall) All to no avail.

Hi, no idea what;s going on but let's start here please : Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a Clean reinstall. This means you remove your Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox. This process does not remove your Firefox profile data (such as bookmarks and passwords), since that information is stored in a different location.
To do a clean reinstall of Firefox, please follow these steps: Note: You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.
- Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from this page) and save the setup file to your computer.
- After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (or open the Firefox menu and click the close button ).
- Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
- C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
- C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
- Mac: Delete Firefox from the Applications folder.
- Linux: If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see Install Firefox on Linux. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder firefox in your home directory.
- Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
- Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
- Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.

WARNING: Do not use a third party uninstaller as part of this process. Doing so could permanently delete your Firefox profile data, including but not limited to, extensions, cache, cookies, bookmarks, personal settings and saved passwords. Under Advanced, Select Network.

If you are using a proxy, make sure those settings are correct. If there is no proxy, first try No Proxy. If there is a problem, then try System Proxy.
Some problems occur when your Internet security program was set to trust the previous version of Firefox, but no longer recognizes your updated version as trusted. Now how to fix the problem: To allow Firefox to connect to the Internet again;

All changes that you make in the Windows registry editor are applied instantly, there is no UNDO possible. You can export key(s) in the registry editor before making changes.

Your specific problem might be different from mine:
Once in a while, I'll come back to my computer, and I find I can't browse anywhere - even locally on my system. Usually, I close and restart FF and that gets me browsing again.
Additional steps that may help:
- Reboot Router and/or Modem. - Reboot the Computer.
