Just updated to new Firefix. Is there a way to change the background color of the tabs?

My Firefox updated today and all of a sudden the color of all background tabs is black. I really dislike this, and I am finding it extremely difficult on my eyes. I did a search of help on how to fix this, and it suggested addons. I have no problem downloading addonns, but none of them are compatible with the most recent version of Firefox. Is there a way to change the black background of tabs so they're not so annoying? Thanks.

Hi  !

You can change that dark color :

3-bar menu (or 'Tools') => Add-ons => Themes

and choose the light theme ........ (way easier on the eyes  !)

Sorry, I misread your quote. The other thread was an unintentional duplicate. Thanks for helping.

I don't want someone else's idea of what my tabs should look like, and have to guess/try some of the thousands(?) of themes out there just to change the color of the tabs.

I'm not into "themes" and having all sorts of fancy stuff, but black square tabs are ugly, ugly, ugly.

Used to be an add-on to have them all be different colors depending on the website you were on, as well as to choose the default color of the active tab.

I realize you don't want legacy add-ons (bummer), but classic theme restorer was SO great. I HATE the "minimalist" look or I'd switch to Chrome. Want the name of the program I'm in on the top bar.

Please add Classic Theme Restorer options to Firefox.

Thanks.

To have the TABs set as the same color as the menu bar is rather dumb. TABs and menu bar colors now merge into one and with the earlier theme restorer addon now not compatible there seems nothing can be done to change this

Worst idea ever to make this ugly black thing the default and force users to google how to fix it...

I've not found a solution other than to use someone else's idea of a theme, none of which I like.

Have you found a better solution?

So many complaints ........ (heavy sigh)

Developers can't please everyone, no matter how hard they try ...... There is no accounting for tastes - what one likes, the other one hates.

At least there's one person here in this thread who put a smile upon my face : Lilliac - the OP  !

That was the beauty of Windows over Macs, and up 'til now, Firefox and it's predecessors (Netscape, etc.), configurability. If I can't have it look and be usable as I like, or at least close, maybe it's time for me to switch (user and proselytizer since v1.something). Opera is my second fav, maybe it's time to make it first choice.

It would be interesting to see the notes on the meetings of "what color should we force on users"? Oh, we can't decide, and we certainly don't want to let the USERS decide, so we'll just go with black.

Posts like these make me so sad ...... Developers have worked sooo hard, trying to please everyone. And we, users, do have a choice : it is a piece of cake to change the color of the tabs bar (took me less than 2 seconds). Some people like the dark color - others don't. So, the developers had to pick one. And they happened to pick a color that I didn't like - big deal. They picked a color that you don't like ...... so, it took you a second to change it to the color that you do like - now : SMILE  ! (please  ?)

Happy112 - How did you change the color? Only options I got were dark and light. I switched to light, but would like to change them back to the blue they were. Can you help?

I'm sorry you get sad so easily.

So tell me how to pick the color of the tabs I want? At least the nonselected color and the selected color specifically.

Thanks.

When you get nothing but complaints all day, every day, (and even worse : some foul language thrown at Mozilla developers) : yes, that makes me sad.

If you are talking about the same thing the OP in this thread was talking about : You can choose any color you like in Add-ons => Themes.

If, however, you are talking about something else (like changing the colors of each tab) : maybe youd like to start your own thread. You can do so by clicking on 'Ask a quuestion' at the top of this page and then post your question. Good luck  !

Hi. I found a way to change the tabs from dark to light, but could not find an option to pick my color of choice. Do you know how to do that?

When you are in Add-ons => Themes, above the themes that are listed there, you'll see : 'Looking to personalize your browser  ?' and then a blue link - click on that .....

But if you can't find what you're looking for there : Start your own thread and post a question - Good luck  !

Operating systems have defaults. Just go with those and make it configurable if you think that's important. No one complains about the look of a program that looks like every other program they use every day.

Exactly  !

And we're here to show users (like you) how to do it.

This doesn't work, the menu bar and tabs are still black,

changing from Default theme to Light (or Dark) works while in Themes, but as soon as you leave - use another tab - it defaults to black menubar and black tabs
