Since the new update, firefox keeps opening pop-ups for addons about 75% of the time that I click on anything on a page, including chat bars, links, videos, etc

Since windows 10 updated on 5/6/17 to include the creator tools, Firefox has been opening a new tab containing advertisements for addons. Nothing else, just addons. It happens roughly 75% of the time that I interact with anything on a web page. I've tried using firefox safe mode and it is still continuing. My windows defender did not detect any viruses on its quick scan, though I am in progress of running a full scan. If this comes up negative, what else can I do? This is getting really irritating and concerning. Its like the popup blocker is no longer catching all of them. and there are way more than there should be. It doesn't matter where I go, this happens. It actually happened when I clicked in this text box.

Hi

Do a malware check with several malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.

Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware. All these programs have free versions.

Make sure you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

You can also do a check for a rootkit infection with TDSSKiller.

Are these ads for add-ons you already have? Are these pages asking to re-install these add-ons?

more options

No, they're random addons i've never heard of or used.

Hi  !
Let's try Firefox in Safe Mode : If Firefox is not running : Hold down the Shift key when starting Firefox. If Firefox is running : 3-bar menu => ' ? ' (at the bottom of the dropdown) => 'Restart with Add-ons disabled'. Then OK the restart. A small dialog should appear. Click 'Start in Safe Mode' ( not 'Refresh' !)
See : Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode
Any difference  ?

I did try safemode and there was no change. I've run full virus scans from several different antivirus programs and they came up clean. Here are 2 examples of popups the just randomly decided to show up. It is no longer just addons anymore. I've even fully uninstalled firefox twice and nothing is changing. I'm at a loss

Here is example 2. I have no clue what to do

This is a fake   !!!
See : http://www.2-security.com/upgradecircle-clickonupdate-site-fake-alert-removal-tool/
Good for you not to click or download anything   !
It's just like with the fake Firefox updates - the scammers will keep on trying to get users to download and infect their computer. It's pretty hard to get rid off, as they will change their URL on a daily basis. You may consider an ad-blocking add-on, like :
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/addon/ublock-origin
This might keep you from getting these fakes in future.

So how do I find the internal infection? Clearly my virus definitions can't do it and something is definitely wrong with my system.

Just saw your second screenshot. See what I found about this  :
https://malwaretips.com/blogs/remove-professional-pcgamer-site/
Apart from ignoring them, not clicking on or downloading anything,   I'd advice you to run all   the scans   (if you haven't already done so), and maybe try the ad-blocking addon.

In addition :
Would you please check these settings : 3-bar menu => Options => Security => under the 'General' tab : make sure everything is checked.
And please, make sure you've done everything as suggested by cor-el.

Everything is good in security. I have the adblocker and I will see if I can try to find this program on my machine that's creating the issue

Ran the adware software, and it took out 43 files. I am once again running full scans on my machine with defender, malewarebytes, and Norton. After the files have been deleted, the problem still persists. I will update again after the scans are done. i appreciate all the help

You're doing great. You just take your time and run all those scans. In addition you could check to see if there are any suspicous looking extensions   (3-bar menu => Options => Add-ons)   - I doubt if you will find anything there, though.
Keep us posted, will you   ?

Further information can be found in this article; https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-caused-malware?cache=no

Run most or all of the listed malware scanners. Each works differently. If one program misses something, another may pick it up.

Personally I would avoid any use of Spyhunter and would be rather careful of any sites suggesting you use that. Instead start off trying ALL the tools listed in cor-el's post.

Good news! Keep the mal-scanners on your system and use them once in a while.
