Firefox crashes
Firefox has been crashing intermittently until yesterday, it began crashing every time I tried to start it. Now I cannot even open it in safe mode. I have tried uninstall and reinstall via synaptic on my Linux Mint 17 system. Below is the most recent crash report:

hi, for the background on this crash please read up on https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1268185 - the problem is caused by the oxygen gtk theme that you are using on your system. please see if there's an update available for it or switch to a different theme otherwise.

In the address bar, type about:crashes<enter>. Note: If any reports do not have BP in front of the numbers/letters, click it to submit them.
The crash report is several pages of data. We need the report numbers to see the whole report.
Using your mouse, mark the most resent 7 - 10 crash reports, and copy them. Now go to the reply box below and paste them in.
(Please don't take a screenshot of your crashes, just copy and paste the IDs. The below image is just an example of what your Firefox screen should look like.)

I can't do that because firefox crashes instantly (even in safe mode) so there is no firefox browser address bar in which to type about:crashes
I have only the chrome browser and konqueror browser, both of which work fine.
As I previously explained:
I have tried uninstall, fresh install of firefox, and reboot, to no avail.
Then tried complete uninstall and deleted all firefox and mozilla files, and tried reinstall and reboot, but firefox still crashes immediately even in safe mode.
Everything else on my Linux Mint system works fine.
If you can't get Firefox to open, you will have to do this the hard way. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/mozillacrashreporter Open the file browser / explorer on your computer. Note: You may have to enable Show Hidden Folders / Files. Enter this in the address bar;

Sorry, I don't know Linux. I called for more help.
Have not heard from anyone else and the problem remains unresolved. Firefox crashes instantly and does not even open. Have tried complete removal and reinstallation to no avail. Everything else on my Linux Mint 17 system works perfectly, including the Chrome browser and Konqueror browser. Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.
A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh).
Is the problem still there?
It also crashes instantly in safe mode. (My system is Linux, not Mac.)
For Linux, you hold down the <Shift> key.
Please post the newest crash reports.
That did not work for me. I can only attempt to start firefox from the command line and holding down the shift key does not help. firefox still crashes instantly, even when try to start it in safe mode. Thank you Philipp. With that tip, I finally got firefox to start.
But I've lost my previous settings, and I cannot figure out how to get the right-click > view page source to open into kwrite so I can edit the contents of the source code the way I used to be able to do.
I went to about:config and changed the view_source.editor.path to open the source with /usr/bin/kwrite (which is the way it used to work), but that no longer allows me to edit the source code.
