I am trying to find the address bar. The help article states I should use the menu bar 3 horizontal stripes I do not have that either. I have tried searching the view button for toolbars and anything else I can think of ran out of ideas. Help please.

Thanks for the screenshot. It looks like you are using Classic Theme Restorer. "CTR" has a checkbox the hide the main toolbar, which Firefox otherwise does not allow. Check whether that is the problem as follows:

Open the Add-ons page using either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a
  • "Firefox" button > Add-ons (might be in a submenu like Tools?)

In the left column, click Extensions. Then on the right side, find CTR and click the Options button and look for the section where that checkbox might be checked and clear (uncheck) it.

Any improvement?

Hi   !
Any solution I can think of requires using the 3-bar menu,   but since that is gone as well,   those solutions won't work.
I'm going to call for help.

Hi, bring up the menu bar (File, Edit, View, History, Bookmarks, Tools, Help) temporarily by pressing Alt. If you would like it to remain there all the time, right click in the tab bar (but not on a tab) and tick/check Menu Bar.

Now in the View tab > Customize, click on Restore Defaults - Customize Firefox controls, buttons and toolbars

If your question is resolved by this or another answer, please take a minute to let us know. Thank you!

Yes, we can see that in your user agent (User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:49.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/49.0) :-)

IMO go for a clean re-install, this means you remove your Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox. This process does not remove your Firefox profile data (such as bookmarks and passwords), since that information is stored in a different location.

To do a clean reinstall of Firefox, please follow these steps: Note: You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.

  1. Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from mozilla.org (or choose the download for your operating system and language from this page) and save the setup file to your computer.
  2. After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (or open the Firefox menu New Fx Menu and click the close button Close 29).
  3. Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
    • Windows:
      • C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
      • C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
  4. Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
    1. Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
    2. Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.

More information about reinstalling Firefox can be found here.

WARNING: Do not use a third party uninstaller as part of this process. Doing so could permanently delete your Firefox profile data, including but not limited to, extensions, cache, cookies, bookmarks, personal settings and saved passwords. These cannot be easily recovered unless they have been backed up to an external device! See Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles.

Thanks again.

Alternately, if the main toolbar is displayed and is blank except for the Pocket icon, you may need to reset the contents of the bar. Try these alternate methods to load the Customize page:

  • right-click a blank area of the tab bar (or the "+") button > Customize
  • tap the Alt key, then View > Toolbars > Customize

Can you get there and use the "Restore defaults" button at the bottom?

You also could try with Classic Theme Restorer disabled or using the button (somewhere in its options) to reset your customizations to the current Firefox look at go through the settings again.

Thank you very much jscher2000. I had tried reinstalling it and that did not work. I do not know how the add-on Classic Theme Restorer was installed in the add-ons I suppose I did it. The page looks the way I thought it should. Again Thank you to you and all the contributors that tried to help.

Thank you.
