I'm getting an error message referring to attempts to redirect to Tumblr - Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.

I've looked up previous responses to issues like this and done everything suggested - cleared my cache and cookies, both through my settings and through the page info itself. Nothing is working to fix this issue. I've disabled cookies entirely for the site, as the error message recommends, and that isn't working either.

Please try flushing your DNS.

The Domain Name System (DNS) is responsible for converting your URLs into IP addresses that a computer can read and use to access various servers on the Internet. The DNS caches these conversions into a table so that it doesn't need to look for it again when you visit the website next time. Sometimes these tables become corrupt or the server IP address has changed.

Flushing your DNS will clear the DNS cache and force your system to search for the IP address of that server again, hopefully obtaining the correct one.

Please let us know if this solved your issue.

Alright, I've flushed my DNS, the page is still refusing to load, however.

Please try running Firefox in Safe Mode. This is a diagnostic mode that will disable your add-ons, disable hardware acceleration and reset some settings until you restart Firefox. This will help us to determine whether the issue is with a setting/add-on conflict or Firefox itself.

If the page loads while in Safe Mode, then the issue is likely caused by an add-on. You will need to use trial and error methods to determine which add-on is the cause.

If the page still refuses to load while in Safe Mode, please let us know.

Unfortunately, its still not loading in safe-mode, either.

Are you able to load the website using Internet Explorer on your system?

more options

No, its not loading via Internet Explorer, either, though it doesn't give details on the error. I tried Chrome as well and got a similar error message - that the site's trying to redirect me too many times.

more options

I seem to have been able to gain access to the parts of the site that were triggering redirect errors by going to one of the blogs on the site instead of going directly to tumblr.com.

The error seems to have corrected itself, or the DSN or cookie clearing took a little longer to work fully.

Thank you very much for you r help.

If this issue occurs in other browsers, then it is probably not isolated to Firefox only.

Try powering off your system. Also power off your router and modem and leave them unplugged from the outlet for a few minutes. Then reconnect them and try again.

If the issue continues, I would suggest contacting your internet service provider. They will likely have more information on the issue for you.
