I have used Firefox since its inception but I am my wits end. I have always been extremely pleased with Firefox's performance and options, and even recommended it highly to others....... Until recently, (issues started around Version 39 going forward). Unwillingly I have started to migrate to using Internet Explorer, (11.0.9600), more, to view the pages that Firefox is apparently having issues with and cannot run some of the options that the page offers; (Ex. YouTube Video Editor. Firefox shows an error window stating that in order to use the Editor, it needs a more recent version of Flash to be installed, see image). Yet, when I open the exact same page in IE, it has absolutely no issues with running the Audio/ Video editing tools, (see image). I am using FF 46.0.1 and Flash 21.0.0.242, (Most Recent Version), Windows 8.1, 4GB RAM. Why is there a conflict where options on YouTube and other sites like Twitter do not work or sometimes don't even show at all? Firefox is also having Script "collisions" when playing on pogo.com, (see image), and on occasion, causes Firefox to crash completely and send error reports back to Mozilla(?), (This is becoming more frequent). I have also noticed huge delays, where you are unable to click on any link, option, or textbox on the page for periods lasting from 2-3 seconds and up to one minute, (it does not show a "page not responding" message, however, it does show in Task Manager that Firefox is "Not Responding"). I have done some trouble shooting on my end using the Firefox help forum using suggestions, such as "Refresh Firefox" which with all of the add-ons removed, Firefox did start up a little more instantaneous than the normal 5 seconds with add-ons installed. Running with the "refreshed Firefox", there was very little to no appreciable difference in the lags, slowness, and Script issues. I have also done a complete clean install of Firefox, (even with a new profile). Once again, this made no real appreciable difference with the performance improving of Firefox. I also continue to notice that Firefox uses a very large amount of CPU resources; in excess of 65%-98%. ***So much for the screenshots..... The screenshot started out at about 200kb in size, the picture would not upload after waiting 5 minutes, (at the time of upload, my up speed was 11.64Mbps). I have tried about 5 different times uploading this, each time using Paint to shrink the size of the picture and file. When I got the Jpg down to a small 6.08kb, (and waiting 10 minutes this time), I gave up on trying to upload the picture(s)...

I have found a resolution!! As I stated before, some options on various pages do not work, or you get error screens when using Firefox. To resolve this issue, I am now using the Avant Browser, (http://www.avantbrowser.com/), which is 3 browsers in one. Avant Browser has three Rendering Engines built-in: Trident, Gecko and Webkit, the engines behind Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome respectively. Users can choose whatever their favorite engine as the default, and switch to others when the default cannot render a web page properly. And users can also define different rendering engine for each website in Avant Browser Options, so the rendering engine will be switched automatically when navigate to these websites. I have been using Avant for several days now, and so far, it seems to have resolved my issues with the various websites. When Firefox can update so that these issues are no longer an issue, I will come back to Firefox full time. For now though, I will be using Firefox periodically through Avant. Thank You for all of your suggestions!!

Thank you for your suggestions!! As stated in my original question, I am running the latest version of Firefox, (Version 46.0.1). I have checked my plug-ins, (and "Extensions"), several times to ensure that they are up to date and have no updates to install. At 2 different times over the past 2 weeks, I have checked my graphics driver, (and other drivers), for updates, and there appears that there are none. The card my laptop uses is a AMD Radeon (TM) R2 Graphics Card, Driver Date: 4/17/2014, Driver Version: 13.351.1105.1001. I go through the Device Manager to update the Driver. I also run a "Thorough Virus Scan" using Avast, and Scans using MalwareBytes, & SpyBot SD, (these 3 programs are checked for updates at every startup), at the end of every night to ensure that there are no other issues. ***Update: The Image upload actually worked!! Yaaay!!

I followed your instructions precisely, and then also started the "test" over using my method which is using CCleaner & Glary Utilities to clear all cookies, tracking cookies, and cache, achieving the exact same results. I found that I didn't have to go in Safe Mode to deselect "Enable Hardware Acceleration", because it can be deselected without going into Safe Mode. To test it out properly, I went to each website separately, using different sessions, with Cache, & Cookies being completely removed prior to going to the pages, (verified by reviewing the about:preferences page that Cache & Cookies were all removed). In regards to YouTube, the same error screen occurred. I went so far as to clear everything again and give it a second attempt, but got the same results as the first, (with Hardware Acceleration Both on, and off, no change in results). I recently used Comodo IceDragon to view YouTube, with no errors occurring, (this browser claims it runs using the Firefox Version 40 Engine). In regards to the Script Errors on Pogo.com; I also did a "clean start" with this session as well, also attempted it with Hardware Acceleration both on and off, but unfortunately I received the same results. As a further observation, I noticed that there is alot of "lagging" and periods of "non-responsiveness" of the browser, (I am assuming that this being caused by the plethora of various Scripts being run in the background). I do have a very similar issue with Facebook as well, with about the same frequency. Only exception being on Facebook, it's mainly "lagging" issues. When these episodes happen, I get mixed results from the Task Manager; there are times that it uses over 75%-80% of CPU, and other times it will use as little as 10%. In either case, 35%-45% of the time, it will result in Firefox crashing abruptly and offering me to send an Error Report, in which I do, ensuring that my email information is sent as well with the Report.

I actually reviewed those FAQ's about a month or 2 ago and tried them, along with the "Refresh", (as stated in my original post). Unfortunately these options did not resolve the issues. I am aware what the percentage of CPU usage means and implies as well as knowledgeable of a few other things. I started programing computers in Basic/ Integer on Apple IIe's, Commodores 64's, IBM's and even KayPro II's, when they first came out, and through the years built several PC's from scratch and have used just about every version of Windows starting from Windows 3.1 through Windows 8.1. I sincerely appreciate your assistance in trying to resolve these issues!! As always, I am open to any suggestions and, or comments.
