How can I make ONE specific computer the one managing the "options" & "Bookmarks" organization -which is mainly what I'm using Sync for and spending HOURS on.

I have sync on all of my computers (except one*). That's 3 laptops and 2 desktops. I use one desktop the most (only slightly more than one of the laptops, but I prefer it to be my MAIN computer - has a New HD). So what I would like to be happening is when I go into sync, All of the "Options" I adjust/set be acknowledged by sync as the "ORIGINAL or CENTRAL or ADMINISTRATIVE" settings that all the other computers should adjust to when they log into Sync each time. And most important - because this is what I really dove into this Sync for in the first place - I want all the bookmarks to "appear" on all of the computers - IN THE OUTLINE/STRUCTURE/FOLDER ORGANIZATION CREATED ON THE MAIN COMPUTER. Which would theoretically pile all newly created bookmarks from all computers to be placed at the bottom of the list awaiting organization. This way none of the bookmark filing/organization or top-to-bottom arranging I've spent hours on will be corrupted.

I hope I'm communicating what I'm hoping you can help me set up on Sync. (My caps are for emphasis, not yelling. :-) )

I'm one of those "overly concerned about privacy" people that others roll their eyes at. My teenage kids think I'm a nut. So using this service was a big decision for me. But I would so often find that Bookmarks I needed would be on a different computer, compounding the time computers suck from my life. I'm not really sure they have improved the quality of life...

Anyway, what help/info. you can provide will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  • On the one (newest) computer that Firefox wont work on, Firefox is GIANT and all Pixely and we can't figure out why, so we just have to use Google (big brother) or IE (Yuck). We've even uninstalled it and reinstalled it and it's just horrible and unusable. It use to work fine, then all of a sudden it changed. I don't use it often. My son uses it mostly for games (Minecraft and Wizard 101 and my daughter sometimes uses it for Origins games, but rarely. And they both used it to access their school Gmail. It had Kaspersky on it for a couple months, but it was a pain, so now I use Trend Micro. It MAY have started acting up near the Kaspersky time period, but since I don't use it often, I don't know. I really hate using those other two browsers, so if you could give me any tips in this area too, I'd GREATLY appreciate it. :-)

The bookmarks will merge, sync does not have a master/slave model.

Perhaps a workaroud/hack: In order to make all of them appear the same is to merge them to make sure all are there, and then organize them, copy the places.sqlite file and overwrite each profile on each computer.

As for the pixely Firefox, try a reinstall or a new profile to see if there is something int he profile that has become corrupt: Profile Manager - Create, remove or switch Firefox profiles
