There are add-ons that can give back what Mozilla has taken away. If you need help with this, just ask.

What about an import/export feature like literally saving my exact firefox bookmarks and add-ons, or an account that I can have from one computer to another that has the same firefox for all, like the way most technology accounts are nowadays from phone app stores to video games.

The Firefox Sync service that synchronizes Profile data was upgraded in Firefox 29 and while the older version still works, the creation of new accounts was closed down about 3 months after Fx 29 was released, and adding a new device to an existing older version account was shut down a few months later, IIRC. So Sync is not an option for users with Firefox 28 or older.

Alright I'm downloading it. Now how will I use it? I'm currently downloading it on Firefox 28. So if I start to download firefox on the new computer, should the first add-on I download be febe? Then what do I do?

Okay I tried it and it's not working. I backed up a profile on this old computer, and downloaded firefox on the new computer, and then febe, and then tried to click "restore profile" and it wouldn't let me. What do I do now?

JohnDu.. what about doing a fresh install on the new computer of Firefox .. make sure that there is NO traces or links under user dataapp file and mozilla.. than go to the old system and copy the contents of the users folders one by one on to a flash drive than to the New

WAIT you have windows correct.. way can't you use the easy file transfer option.. have you tried that??

I... don't know what that is. Anyway what I did was I backed up the profile on a flash drive, stuck it in the new computer, and tried to click restore profile but it wouldn't let me. I just don't know what I did wrong. Perhaps profile backing isn't what I was supposed to do to get my exact firefox layout, add-ons, bookmarks, and general settings?

JohnDu when ever WINDOWS creates a new version lately they have a program on the system that will allow you to connect the new computer to the old and just transfer files.. let me see if I can a link and yes unfortunately when you downloaded Firefox on the new system it automatically creates a new profile for you.... so with the said,, is there a certain reason you want to transfer to old over?? other than book marks what other benefits are you looking to bring over?

so sorry JohnDu easy transfer is not available for windows 8 but I did find another way.. it is called one drive thru windows and here is the link from the windows forum

On the old computer, open the profiles folder. NOT your profile, the folder with all of the profiles. Plug in a thumb drive. Open another window to the thumb. Go to the profiles folder. The profile you want to copy, place the mouse on it, hold down the left button, now drag the mouse to the button window while holding down the <Control> key, then drop it in. This should copy the whole profile to the thumb.

Once that is done, properly remove the thumb. Go to the new computer, and plug it in. Open a window to the thumb, and another to the profiles folder. Repeat the above instructions to copy the thumb into the profiles folder.

Once done, open the Firefox Profiles Manager. Select the copied profile. Note; this will only copy the user profile, settings, and some options.

You can also have the exact "profilename" after the -P so Firefox will start with that Profile.

It would be best to reinstall the extensions on the new computer and redo the other customizations, especially since this is a different OS (XP and Windows 8.1) You could consider to use Sync to sync some important personal data.

My instructions above should copy all of the old profile. However, things like add-ons might not. But you can just download the current versions from the Mozilla Add-ons Web Page {web link} (There’s a lot of good stuff here).

Okay I'll try it. I really only have 4 add-ons I guess, but they're indispensable to me, those being adblock, grab-and-drag, imagezoom, and most important of all Stylish, which means that if I have to individually download each add-on again I'm going to have to try and copy each stylish code that I've written for each website, altering things such as sidebar placement, page layout, etc etc.

You can try going to %appdata% copying the Mozilla folder and then posting it on the new computer. It basically consists of your settings, extension, history, bookmarks, and etc.

Like maybe in excess of the 4-digit level of support postings. along with at least a 10% level of solutions shown. Solutions divided by answers, for those who are math impaired.

Sorry I can't provide advice about using FEBE - as I have my own convoluted method, that I have been using since long before FEBE was even "a gleam in that developer's eyes". I am surprised that FredMcD didn't offer some tips for using FEBE, because he recommends that add-on more that anyone else here does.

Wow, that was a little unnecessary.

Huh... while a bit rough around the edges, I actually got it to work using FEBE:

Here's the problem though; it keeps resetting to the default firefox every time I close the browser, I don't know how to make it permanent or why it isn't permanent in the first place.

Another thing, I still don't have the back, forward, stop and refresh buttons. Anyone know how to get those? I can't find them in the customize option.

I also would rather not have those 3 lines thing next to my grab-and-drag hand if possible, it's just taking up space.

Really excited that I'm finally making headway here, and am really appreciating the help so far thank you guys.

Scratch the first problem, I think I've got it to stop resetting. All that's left is those buttons and 3 lines thing.
