default download option resets every time i restart ff
everytime i start ff from scratch, the download option under the general tab is is defaulted to "always ask me where to save files." i then switch to "save files to" a specific folder. next time, i turn on ff, it defaults to the "ask me" option again. this keeps happening EVERY damn time and is irritating as hell. this never happened before. how to fix?

If you have software like Advanced SystemCare with its Surfing Protection feature that might reset some files to older versions to protect these files against changes then check the settings or uninstall this software.
no, nothing else changes and i don't have anything outside of mccafee.
also, since i got this new comp and installed the latest version of ff, is there a way to add the actions for files i download that are not currently listed under the application tab? like mkv files, it's not listed there yet so it's always asking me what it should do (view or download). it's always been that i need to download the new files a few times for ff to add to application. anyway to just add manually?
