In setting up a new PC (laptop), I must make my password known to the software. But I cannot remember my password. On my existing, older, laptop, I saved my email password long ago i.e. I do not have to enter my password, on the older laptop in order to get email. I no longer remember my own password. I am trying to reinstall Thunderbird on my computer using Windows 10 and I get a pop-up box requesting to sign in to my Google account and then an authentication error message. How do I get past this?

I had to reinstall windows 11 on my laptop so I also had to reinstall Thunderbird, but the latter will not accept my email & password (same as on my desktop). (I do not use hotmail or outlook, just Thunderbird.) Is there something I'm missing?

I have Thunderbird on my Win 11 Pro Laptop and on my Samsung Android phone. My primary email account works fine on both devices. My secondary account with the domain name otakorp.org works fine on the Android Thunderbird app, but when I try to set it up on the Windows version it sees that it's a gmail server and sets both incoming and outgoing servers to Oauth2 authentication, but generates an unspecific error (see included image). Any suggestions?

I received an email message from earthlink which included a verification code that I did not request. Earthlink support told me to change my password immediately which I did. Now when I open open Mozilla on me laptop, it requires me to put in the new password. How do I change the password/login that Mozilla uses to access earthlink?

I have filled in an un-correct password a number of times due to incorrect language setting of my keyboard. Then the popup window for this disappeared, and I cannot find a place to enter password. What can I do? It is the password for outgoing email.

I had TB on my desktop for years and finally got it also synced to my phone. Then with a failure with Windows 11 had to wipe clean the desktop and start over. Cannot reinstall TB. I obviously have the correct e-mail and password as I was able to log into Mozilla and submit this question. I believe it is a problem with my user name and what is on my phone setup does not work with my desktop reinstallation.

Have a new computer and when they transfered my information they didn't do my email. I finally got found it an downloaded it but now it won't accept my password. Plese help I'm getting desperate. Thank you Mary Ward

It has been going on for two days. I tried restarting in troubleshoot mode and it didn't turn on the "Show Password" button. The version of thunderbird I'm using is Mozilla Thunderbird.

When I got into the "Show Passwords" in "Saved Passwords in "Privacy & Security", I had to click "Remove All" in "Show Passwords" to delete it, and now it turns off the "Show Passwords" in the "Saved Passwords" section, and now the OAuth2 is missing.

Attempting to install Thunderbird on an additional desktop using same address as my original computer has. But when I attempt to install on computer #2, Thunderbird doesn't recognize my email or password from computer #1.

I am unable to get Thunderbird to work after my microsoft password was updated. I get the popup & enter my email & new password, but I never get the second popup to accept permissions. It just doesn’t go any further. I can see Failed login attempts for TB on the microsoft side. I am not too tech savvy, so I’m doing my best to troubleshoot!

This is Thunderbird 78.14.0 on mac 10.11, YES, that is old, it is a legacy mac! It was successfully setup with OAuth2 over 3 years ago & worked fine until the password update. I was able to add TB to an old 10.15 mac & it got the permissions popup & the account was added fine (but it is also using TB 150.0.2). Oddly, there was no 2FA prompts given, it just connected with my password only??

I had a number of devices that needed passwords updated, so I’m wondering if there was a conflict when trying to do this one? Do I need to delete certain files? I found where to delete the stored passwords & did that, but it’s not moving past that point to even store new ones & connect. I can’t grant permissions?

Also, I notice the successful TB login activity shows my IP address, whereas the unsuccessful one shows Browser Mozilla Firefox. I’m not sure if that helps with troubleshooting or not!

good day, i'm trying to add a new GMX email account to thunderbird, but i keep getting an error telling me that the user name and or password are incorrect, but they are not. i already have two (2 ) other GMX email accounts on thunderbird and they are working just fine. i had a similar issue last week with my Hotmail/Outlook account telling me it couldn't connect for the same reason, but that seemed to work itself out and that one is working fine. i've been using thunderbird for quite a while now and never had any issues integrating GMX email accounts. thank you for your time...Mike S

I have been using Thunderbird for 10+years and was able to set up Gmail accounts without any problem. Currently, there are 3 Gmail accounts configured under Thunderbird and those all are working fine. I needed to add one more GMAIL account, everything seems to go through OK, but near the end, it fails with an error message: "Unable to login at the server. Probably wrong configuration, username or password."

I also installed Thunderbird on MAC and repeated the same steps to configure GAMIL account and got the same error message.

The same errors occur if I configure APP PASSWORD in Gmail and then try to configure GAMIL account in Thunderbird using APP PASSWORD. Still got the same error message.

Hi I cannot add my BT mail account. I keep getting authentification error. I can use Firefox to login to my email account so I know the password is ok. The account recently had 2 step verification added. Could this be the problem? My email account has two sub email id's. I have added both these email addresses to Thunderbird and they work fine. I use POP3. The two addresses that were added were done using the automatic installation. I have tried to manually setup the problem address but to no avail.

It may be a BT problem because I tried to change my password, I went through all the on screen prompts and received confirmation of a password change but I still can only login to my emails using Firefox with the old password. The new password doesn't work.
