is there any way to perform a dynamic backup of Thunderbird. By that I mean a regular (e.g. daily) backup of the profile or at least the mailboxes using a scheduler without closing Thunderbird down?

After many years of using Thunderbird I am now considering ditching it. I am continually getting the Authorisation Failure message when trying to open Thunderbird. Why does this keep happening? It does not happen on my Android devices, just on Windows 11. I have tried deleting all three gmail accounts and re entering them. All is fine until I close down Thunderbird and then open it again. I run Norton 360 and have tried taking off Norton email security, but that didn't work. Any ideas, please?

When email downloads from my internet server to thunderbird how do I indicate that the message is to be deleted from the server. ie I dont want the message to be in two places . At the moment after reading the email and saving it to a folder I have to log into my internet provider and delete the email.

I don't have an error code.

I am using TB 152.0.1 on Windows 11 Home 10.0.26200 Build 26200 I want to have TB on my Galaxy Tab 6 lite, and/or Huawei P20. I have the app installed on both devices, but whenever I try to scan the QR code under 'export for mobile', neither device locks onto it.

I know this problem has been reported before, but what I can do to make it work? Is there a setting I need to check/change, what is that setting, and where do I find it?

Mozilla Thunderbird version 152.0.1 (64-bit) installed on a Windows 11 Pro computer. Within this installation are five E-Mail accounts configured and working.

I have selected Export for Mobile.

On Android (Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra - 5G) One UI Version: 8.5 Android: 16 Kernel: 6.1.145-android14-11-33419968-abS928USQS6DZF2

Thunderbird Version: 20.0

I click on the Import Settings: Try to scan the QR Code from my laptop which says 1 of 2 QR Codes and I get nothing. No pop-ups, no approvals, it just sits there. Clicking done takes me back to the main screen.

PRELUDE: I have Thunderbird (TB) Version 152.0.1 (64-bit)

I have 45+ email addresses, some at various different domains, 8 (was 10 yesterday) Email accounts with Shaw that was taken over by Rogers. It's been a nightmare. I now have TB working almost as it should, and am use to but, one account has issue.

I tried to format this so it's easy to follow, but more formatting is not available so please see the pictures attached. Pics are self explanatory, but in case, pic 1 shows 3 accounts. The address with issues is the middle address (fake-two (faketwo@there.xy). The other 2, fake-one and fake-three have all their folders.

ANSWERS to possible questions: I used a outside mail to send/receive to/from fake-two. It receives and sends Email.

at my place of work no one can send or receive mail anmore using Thunderbird. The problem suddenly appeared last monday. No changes regarding the network or settings in Thunderbird happened prior to this.

Here's what I tried so far and things I can rule out:

• same problem appears on all devices (desktop and laptop PCs) in our office
• our work mail server is online and working, I can access everything using the webmail-interface in the office network
• new installation of Thunderbird without any profiles and fresh account confguration doesn't solve the problem
• I can connect to our mail provider and send and receive mail when using my home network or my personal phone hotspot
• I can connect to my private mail provider using Thunderbird while in the office network
• troubleshooting mode doesn't solve the issue
• renewing the internet connection on our router temporarily/once allowed some devices to receive mail
• pinging the mail server (mailserver.[workdomain].de, no specific port) via command line was successful while Thunderbird was unable to connect to the mail accounts

IMAP-Log returns the following error codes:

• D/IMAP URL failed with code 0x804b000e
• D/IMAP URL failed with code 0x804b001e

I would be glad if somebody could help me out. If you need any more details I'll provide them. Thanks in advance!

Hi, I have a Yahoo account in Thunderbird. Every time I try to create a folder, it doesn't appear immediately. I have to close Thunderbird and reopen it to see the new folder on my folder list. This doesn't happen with other email accounts, like Gmail or NetworkSolutions, only with Yahoo.

Thank you for any information on how to correct it, or whether other people are having the same problem.

Frustrated that told to do this do that, and more of stuff I don't understand. Change this, Change what. No matter what how many times i change this or that nothing helps. i have a big headache, and it isn't right to put so much stupid crap that I dpn't understand at all. Nothing is simple; it's not simple. I already paid a $20.00 for a donation so I can use Thunderbird. I can't even use the freaken Thunderbird. I can't figure out what the heck who ever expects me to do this, do that, than more of the same. All I want, is to be able to use Thunderbird, transfer all my emails to Thunderbird. Use the Thunderbird without alot of crazy ass questions, that I have no answers. If this is diffcult to read imagine how I feel. It should be so difficult to use anything, but it sure is. Even writing this, what do I gain, nothing, go away, lose the money I donated for Thunderbird. I would really really appreciate any help to help me sit up this thunderbird email. I really would. I have a similar problem to others reporting a connection time-out. But the circumstances now seem different. It is getting worse. First thing today, I noticed that Thunderbird emails (current/up-to-date version) were taking several minutes to finish sending. After sending 3 successfully, but slowly, all further emails failed, as per image attached. My wife's computer, using the same email provider, etc, was working okay. I checked and compared the account setting, and they were slightly different (no idea why) so I altered mine to match the other PC. That didn't make any difference anyway. Then (a few hours later) my wife's PC started having the same problems as mine, as if it's a spreading disease. Could it be a virus? Thanks.

I am using Thunderbird for my emails since gmail will no longer support my business emails. I was able to access my sent emails up until April and now I am no longer seeing sent emails show up in the sent folder. Please provide easy to follow steps for this. I need to be able to access my sent emails.

None of my sent emails are accessible. When I go to the sent folder after sending an email, the emails are not there. Same with deleted emails. When I go to that folder, they are not there. Why is Thunderbird email so overly complicated? I think I need a better email provider. I am only using it because gmail will no longer support 3rd party emails (for my business.)

I've had a Thunderbird email account for years. My laptop quit, so I've set up the account on a new laptop. I discovered that I hadn't saved my Thunderbird password, so I followed the procedure for "forgot password". This included a new p/w, and I also got a Mozilla PIN (for future Microsoft Password Manager use), and got a Mozilla Account Recovery Key, again for future use. But I can't log into my Thunderbird account. I get the message "Authentication Error" (Wrong p/w, email, etc.) Changing IMAP / POP settings didn't help, though I did go with the recommended IMAP setting.

Any suggestions?

New W11 Pro pc, so new installation of Thunderbird. All profiles and folders moved over ok, but the Bin folder is an issue (main Gmail account IMAP). In my previous Tbird installation, I was able to right click the Bin folder, and be given the option of emptying said folder. Not now. The Spam folder does have the Empty option. Pics illustrate the folder list, what happens when I right click the Bin folder, and what happens when I right click the Spam folder, which does have the 'Empty Spam' option. I can highlight the messages in the Bin folder and delete them that way, but the right click option is shorter, easier... The only item I can find in the Thunderbird help pages tell me to delete the Trash and Trash msf folders in the profile - tried this twice, with no difference. It's a little frustrating... Any help would be welcomed, I guess I'm missing something really simple...

I've just transferred my profile to a new computer, for which I downloaded TB152 (had been running TB128), and no add-ons/extensions work. Of course many were rendered inoperative with the update, but that's not the issue, because:

1. Even those which claim to be compatible, or were updated since the transfer for the purpose of extension compatibility, do not work.
2. Moreover, when I invoke the Add-ons Manager to inquire about the various non-working extensions, none of the links (which can be seen and read by the OS), can be invoked or even copied (to be, for example, pasted into a browser window).

I went through the standard [[Mozilla Support diagnostics|https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/hyperlinks-in-messages-not-working]] and found no answers. Can someone suggest a next step?

Trying to understand why this problem is related only to the extensions, I examined the profile's "extensions" folder. There are 40 .xpi files (same as the number of mostly-disabled (and mostly-expired) extensions in the Add-ons Manager), along with a subdirectory named "staged" containing 7 empty folders with what appear to be .xpi filenames - though none of those empty-folder-filenames match any of the .xpi files in the parent "extensions" folder. Because the "staged" folder has a recent timestamp (apparently the last time TB shut down), it seems to have some significance to TB operation - but what can be the use of it is more than I can see. What is the significance of that folder and its contents?

Two final (and possibly related) questions about this "extensions" folder:

1. Is there any way to relate the <filename>.xpi to the name in the Add-ons Manager?
2. Since nothing in the "extensions" folder identifies which are enabled, there must be some file containing a functional description of the folder's contents. Where would that be?
