Why won't Thunderbird download incoming emails?

I keep getting the following error when trying to download emails from yahoo.mail: Authentication failure while connecting to server pop.mail.yahoo.com Have hundreds of emails sitting in yahoo.mail that I need to load onto my desktop. Any help is appreciated!

No email to one of two Hotmail accounts since 28 April 26

I have 2 hotmail accounts - one gets mail as normal the other stopped on 28 April. Checked and settings are same for both except actual email address name. Till 28 April… (xle nububuwo)

I have 2 hotmail accounts - one gets mail as normal the other stopped on 28 April. Checked and settings are same for both except actual email address name. Till 28 April both worked normally. Haven't tried either starting another account for the problem name or deleting existing as don't want to lose anything. Haven't updated to latest version for same reason. How to fix please?? I have Read Receipts disabled, but one was generated when MY address is in Disposition-Notification-To

I received a spam message this morning that had a "Disposition-Notification-To" (aka Read Receipt) line that had MY email address on it. I honestly don't know why a spamm… (xle nububuwo)

I received a spam message this morning that had a "Disposition-Notification-To" (aka Read Receipt) line that had MY email address on it. I honestly don't know why a spammer would do this - but that's not the issue. I have Read Receipts disabled, but Thunderbird generated an email (to me) and sent it to my mail host. This seems like a bug. Even if the Read Receipt has my email address on it (making it mostly harmless), Thunderbird shouldn't have generated the message. Or am I missing something? Thanks.

Thanks in advance. I'm trying to get Thunderbird setup with an outlook.com email address. All the default server settings look fine. I know the email address is good since I can login via a web browser. Cookies enabled and all the other recommended settings including app password. Yet it keeps saying Unable to log into the server. Has anyone successfully done this with the latest version of Thunderbird. I'm on Zorin 18 Pro.

People are not receiving my emails. I am receiving other peoples emails. I am using Linux Mint 22 and Thunderbird 140.11.1esr. If I send an email and look in the sent fo… (xle nububuwo)

People are not receiving my emails. I am receiving other peoples emails. I am using Linux Mint 22 and Thunderbird 140.11.1esr. If I send an email and look in the sent folder, it shows that it has been sent. If I log into my Bell Webmail portal and check the sent folder there, it shows that the email has been sent. But no one gets my emails. If I send an email from my Bell Webmail portal, people receive that email. I have re-installed Thunderbird and allowed Thunderbird to autofil the incoming and outgoing server information after entering my user name and password. No change. I have contacted Bell my internet provider and they have told me that because I can send from the Webmail portal and not from my Desktop, it is a Thunderbird problem. It seems that this problem may have start just after Thunderbird received an update about 2-4 weeks ago. It has been around a month since the last time I had a back and forth email exchange. Searching the forum has been difficult to find an issue similar to mine. Any help would be appreciated. Robert

I have sent this problem before and the problem continues on a HP-DeskTop & HP-LapTop.

In simple terms, Thunderbird stops saving SENT messages to "Copies & Folders". I can fix the problem by going to the "Tools / Account Settings" and pushing the "Other:" and going back to "Sent" Folder on:

This works for a while until it stops working again which I don't know until I look at my SENT folder again and find that copies are not in that folder (again !!!)

I have email [edited from public] @riverplazatravel.com purchased through Rackspace For days, on my emails through Thunderbird, I'm receiving emails but SENT emails disappear. They aren't showing in TRASH anymore, or SENT....they are disappearing and I have to check with my customer and they aren't receiving them. Big problem. Please help I've spent hours of research and dont understand much of that and so many are outdated. I've messaged and called various people. Your email was provided to me by Rackspace.

My eMail Providers: Yahoo, AOL, Gmail.

AOL and Gmail(2 accounts) work fine. Only Yahoo doesn't respond. As you can see in the attached screen shot, it shows a "No Messages Found" message.

I have tried everything listed in the support page.

I'm sure it is something simple but I can't see it.

Yes there was an update the last week of May to version 140.11.1esr (64-bit).

Yes the incoming and outgoing mail server info gibes with my ISP (Shaw) - added pix

Yes have done the necessary adjustments to Windows Defender and Firewall.

Yes I have increased mail.news.tcptimeout because occasionally have received message that "Outgoing server

  • SMTP" mail.shaw.ca timed out. Try again. Yes I have indeed tried again.

Yes I have called Shaw and they will not offer any suggestions because TB is a third-party.

What's left to try? A version reversion? Thunderbird has been so stable for so long. I even considered Betterbird but it uses the same profile so............

My email provider provides "Disposable Email Addresses" - aliases which still direct mail to my inbox but don't expose my primary email to any web sites etc. I provide them to. It's very handy for registering for mailing lists, product vendors etc. since if one gets leaked, it's no big deal. I can drop the email again, but at least I know who was responsible for leaking it (I still get spam to my old Myspace account). My problem is that I'll occasionally have a need to reply such an email, and by default my From: address is my primary email address, not the one in the To: header. This is confusing to the recipient (since it's from some unknown email) and also exposes my email unintentionally. Is there any way to configure Thunderbird to always reply using the To: address? If there are multiple To: or CC: addresses, it could perhaps be specified with a wildcard matching any of my aliases. I can do it with Identities, I know, but I have to set that up before replying and I frequently forget.

If the "from" incoming message doesn't contain "any of the following" ".com" ".org" or ".net" move it to "junk". It moved .com and .org messages to junk anyway. What did I do wrong? There are too many TLDs to create a filter for all of them.

Hi I am Unable to send e-mails (only receive) after adding a 3rd account to my thunderbird, a microsoft e-mail (the other 2 are gmx and my old work e-mail). This is my private laptop. I tried tons of troubleshootings incl. deleting passwords, triple checking all settings (they are all correct), but I always get a pop up with "Login to server smtp.office365.com with username ... failed" when trying to send an e-mail. When I click on enter new password it just tries to send the e-mail again, which fails, so unable to enter anything.
