As the title says, firefox keeps reenabling delete browser history when firefox closes on its own. After an update yesterday it seems to have reenabled it AGAIN. Back in May near the end of it it also reenabled itself and deleted years of firefox history out of nowhere and I never knew it did so until the next morning when I went to go to a specific part of a site I frequent only to find when typing out the keywords to it, didn't exist.

Found it reenabled itself on its own. Disabled that, and got some semblance of my history remembered again into the system. Made a backup copy of history to some degree into a copy of the places.sqlite file. Yesterday firefox updated again. Closed it last night when i shut off my PC to go to bed and this morning when I opened firefox, I find all my history is gone AGAIN. See delete history when firefox closes is reenabled once more on its own without my permission barely 3 weeks later. I then try to input the backup places.sqlite i made a few weeks ago as well and it gets overwritten by an empty one after I input it back in and open firefox.

I've tried searching for why and how this keeps happening. But every time you search anything on this topic its nothing BUT how to ENABLE the setting, nothing about it auto reenabling and how to stop it or what could be causing it. Web searches are legitimately 0% useful because its just nothing but one sided search results repeating the same thing ad nauseam.

I'm using Firefox-bin on Gentoo, wayland, and for a long time with all updates on my main firefox profile smooth scrolling can not be disabled: Both UI settings called "Use smooth scrolling" and manually setting general.smoothScroll on false - does nothing. Setting general.smoothScroll.mouseWheel on false actually disables smooth scrolling for mouse wheel, but smooth scrolling still happens on keyboard scrolling (holding up or down arrows).

On same browser I have two different profiles: On one of them smooth scrolling were disabled long ago On another one I successfully disabled smooth scrolling this day (it's some default one that I haven't used)

There are no extensions that could override this and I tried disabling them and rebooting and trying again too. I haven't touched any other scrolling relating options except enabled "autoscroll" and tried disabling apz.gtk.kinetic_scroll.enabled but it made no difference.

I found only few entries that describes same thing from long ago but they seem to not be applicable to this one. This bug is only mildly annoying because I rarely use keyboard scrolling and general.smoothScroll.mouseWheel = false already solved half of issue but I'm worried a little if something is wrong

Today (06/12/2025) upon opening a new tab, Firefox slid the new option of uploading a custom picture to apply to the background. Tried the new feature, now I can not find the setting that allows me to change the picture. I read the thread "Customize your wallpapers". The instructions are as follows; You can personalize your Firefox New Tab page by adding one of the available wallpapers. Follow these steps:

  1. In the right corner of the New Tab page, click the gear IG settings icon.
  2. In the customization panel, under the Wallpapers section, you will see different categories like Solid colors, Abstract and Photographs.
Click the category you prefer. For example, selecting Abstract will show a variety of abstract designs.

The problem I have is the customization panel is no where to be seen, I have click on EVERYTHING possible, it is not in my settings, why? How do find this?

hi, i cant find an option to dismiss the new sidebar. it's pointless and i can switch all the buttons off, but now there is just an empty space at the side of my browser. very annoying. i hate the AI integration and i will not be recommending this browser to anyone in the future because of it. I have spent years convincing others to make the switch to firefox, but what's the point if it ends up just as toxic and useless as every other browser. disappointing.

So yeah we're on a Windows domain, but I'm the admin and I need to add a custom search engine and can't because "Your browser is being managed by your organization" basically neuters a ton of stuff.

I don't care, small office and I need control over FF. The help documentation I have seen are not even remotely clear. Is there a simple way to just LOSE this completely? I accept the risks, and not because we're lax on security but really need that custom search engine. Specifically, lose Google and replace with a Google search that strips out AI. The new Google search would be this:

https://www.google.com/search?q=%s&pws=0&gl=us&gws_rd=cr&udm=14

Dear Firefox team, I have one question only.

ARE YOU FUCKING INSANE? Can you STOP bombarding me with the notifications? This is MY DESKTOP, this is MY PC, I DON'T NEED this shit.

For anyone who would like to help:

No, there's no such option in settings. No, removing updater physically does not stop pop-ups. No, there's nothing in about:config to shut up the updates.

For Firefox team:

No, your updates ruin the browser, more and more, I think I'm about to switch to Pale Moon instead.

I have a 4k monitor, with Windows scaling set to 150% to make text readable. On firefox the text is still very small - I think it is not scaling according to the monitor setting. I also think this issue only started recently?

All other apps show the text at the scaled size on that monitor. Firefox seems to be the odd one out. Screenshot attached with another app to show the difference.
