Previous solution: switch browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.improvesearch.handoffToAwesomebar to false does not work anymore.

Is there anyway in the setting to stop a shortcut from being added every time I visit a site? I only want sortcuts that I use. I have attached a screenshot circling the ones that keep popping up as an example.

Hi, I am getting error "Oops, something went wrong loading this content".

I downloaded firefox 148.0 x64 (from your webpage) on my new windows 11 PC. After setting up for a barebone firefox. I set "browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.search.useHandoffComponent" to FALSE to have searches NOT USE address line and that is when I get "Oops..." error. My setup always worked on my Win10 system, can you help?

Why is the Bible.com picture blurred on my home screen but non of the other websites are? This is not very inclusive.

these shortcuts appear on my firefox home page are so annoying here is my setting , i toggle off all shortcuts related to history or sponsored shortcuts but they still pop up each time , i want to disable this feature i need only my selected shortcuts appear on home page what can i do ?

i noticed there are many unwanted shortcuts on my firefox home page each time i open the browser can you instruct me how can i get rid of them ? these are not those shortcuts that i added by my self these are just unwanted history webpages that just pop up without my permission i attach the screenshot here .

Suddenly I cannot search from the search bar. It defaults to the address bar. why "fix" something that was not broken. Being forced to use the address bar is frustrating. If you go directly to the address bar, it tells you it cannot find that site.

Version 148 recently installed as auto update and problem seems contemperaneous to that.

My Home page is set to show only the Firefox "search the web" as an entry box in the screen centre, but will no longer allow any input: instead the awesomebar (aka address bar) shows on the tool bars at top of screen and accepts/displays the entry. I wish to revert to the simpler display.

I thought the solution lay within the advanced preferences that can be accessed (via app:config) and the value of the awesome bar changed. However tthe awesomebar preference is the only one shown for which there is no setting at all. Edit brings nothing up. There is a delete bin symbol available.

Can anybody explain what is going on and how to rectify this situation, please?

I'm trying to find out how to keep all the shortcuts I've selected for my Mozilla Firefox Home page. I've filled all 4 rows with shortcuts I've selected, but some keep getting automatically replaced with shortcuts to any new website I've visited, which I DON'T want new shortcuts to !, especially when they're replacing shortcuts I actually DO want !

All of a sudden (after a recent update I suppose) every time I start to type anything in the "search" in the middle of my "home" screen, the curser jumps to the address space in the toolbar. I hate that! I want to continue to use search in the middle of the screen as I have for years since I started using browsers. I've tried looking at the setting for "browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.improvesearch.handoffToAwesomebar" and it is set to "false" as was recommended in another post some years ago. What do I have to do to revert back to the way it was before this change was forced on me?

Today my goggle searches, are being sent to the address bar, and have the google tag in front of them, I cannot use any of the other search engines that drop down from the upper search bar, so just google, and that is really hijacking my search.

How do I get searches (my default is Google) to STOP going to the address bar? This started out of the blue and it is making me crazy. I don't want to be asked which search to use, and I don't want it to search in the address bar. I want it in the search box. Thanks.

The main reason I use Firefox rather than Chrome or Edge is because Firefox allows 32 home page shortcuts. I configure my home page with all 4 available rows of 8, pinned in position so they are grouped based on function, along with putting the home page icon on the toolbar. On several occasions these have disappeared and the 'popular sites' do not load. I have had to use Control Panel -> uninstall program to 'fix' Firefox; this causes all my shortcuts to disappear, along with the toolbar 'home' icon and '4 row' display. I am running Windows 10 Pro, and will be migrating to Windows 11 Pro on a new computer. Will this issue be fixed with Firefox running on Win 11? Is there a way to easily save my home page settings so that if they disappear I can reload them? Thanks!
