I have a problem with 'efficiency mode' in Windows 11. Windows 11 forcefully puts many of Firefox's tasks into efficiency mode marked by green leaves within task manager in processes tab. It doesn't seem to do this to anything else except Steam Client WebHelper. My Laptop is always in max performance mode in all possible settings as it is always plugged in (this does not influence efficiency mode). It slows down performance making things take longer to load and might even break them. If you try to enable efficiency mode on a task it even warns you of this: 'Efficiency mode will lower process priority and improve power efficiency but may cause instability for certain processes. Do you want to continue?' There is no way to permanently disable it. Currently out of 19 tasks 8 are in efficiency after I woke up my laptop from sleep (I have 5 tabs open). Only way to stop it is to manually disable each one by one (right click on each task and disable efficiency mode). But Windows 11 will turn them back on automatically usually within a few seconds (it seems to depend on opening new tabs, reloading them or waking up the PC from sleep mode). From looking it up online there seems to be a way to disable it in browser on Edge and Chrome but that might be something else (I do not use the so I'm not sure). There was a solution for Chrome but it doesn't work on Firefox.
Is there any way this can be disabled permanently through Firefox or Windows 11?

Not sure if this is a Firefox or YouTube bug.. it's really annoying and happens quite a few times each day I use my PC.. Is there any solution to this or perhaps reverting the update til this is resolved? I usually wait fo rit to stop lagging or if I'm not patient enough.. I'll just close Firefox entirely and re-open. Thanks.

Good morning. I don't know how to describe it well much less grab a screenshot as it happens so quickly. Occasionally when I open Firefox which is always full screen a blank/black smaller browser window opens/appears for a second or so and then the browser opens as normal. It does not happen every single time. It's like on the way to opening the browser takes a step and then activates. The browser is up to date and seems to be working fine. I am attempting to catch a screenshot but as I said it is so quick. I don't know how to describe it any better. If anyone can help I would certainly appreciate it. I have run multiple antivirus, malware and spyware programs and found no issues.

My question is a very obvious one if you look at the two screenshots I've attached. The 'X' to close the Firefox browser keeps disappearing, along with the 'maximize' and 'minimize' options as well. This has been happening for months. The recurrence rate is 50/50 each time I open the FF browser. It's not just an issue with closing or minimizing a page, it also removes the access to my Windows taskbar at the bottom!! Normally, when I move my mouse to the bottom, my taskbar pops up and I can access whatever I need, BUT when the FF browser has NO 'X' at the top corner, my taskbar won't show up at all! This is finally getting on my last nerve!🤦♀
Any knowledge as to why this keeps happening?🤷♀
My FF browser is up to date, as of yesterday. My default search engine is google. My PC is still running Windows 10.....could this be the problem?

Hello,
I’ve been having a performance problem with Firefox that only happens when I play the Letter Boxed web game from the New York Times.
When I open the puzzle in Firefox (latest version), the letters load fine, but as soon as I start typing, the browser becomes laggy input delays, slow animations, and occasionally the whole tab freezes for a few seconds. I’ve tried the following, but none have fixed it:
Restarting Firefox Disabling all add-ons Clearing cache and cookies Updating Firefox to the latest version Running in Safe Mode
Other websites and games work normally, and the issue only appears with this specific NYT game. It also doesn’t happen in other browsers on the same machine.
System Info: ‑ OS: Windows 10 ‑ Firefox Version: (latest stable) ‑ RAM: 16 GB ‑ CPU: Intel i5
Questions:
Is this a known issue with Firefox and the Letter Boxed game? Are there specific settings (hardware acceleration, graphics) that I should adjust? How can I troubleshoot what is causing the lag within Firefox?
Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks in advance!

Hi everyone,
I’ve been experiencing performance issues while using Mozilla Firefox, especially when working with browser-based tools that handle file processing.
When I try to upload or process larger files (like PDFs), I notice the following:
• Firefox becomes slow or laggy • The tab sometimes freezes temporarily • File processing either takes too long or doesn’t complete • Occasionally I get a “page unresponsive” message
For testing, I used an online tool: [ONLINE EDITOR]
The issue seems more noticeable with larger files or when multiple tabs are open.
What I’ve tried:
• Restarting Firefox • Clearing cache and cookies • Disabling extensions • Testing in Troubleshoot Mode • Updating Firefox to the latest version
The same tasks seem to work slightly better in other browsers, so I’m wondering if this is related to Firefox performance or settings.
Question:
Is there any way to improve Firefox performance for heavy browser-based tasks like file processing? Are there specific settings I should adjust?
Thanks in advance!

is there a way to revert the changes that have been made on ver 149 regarding the scrolling? I'm trying to scroll some really long sites and when I just touch either my magic mouse or my macbook trackpad scrolling jumps to the end. Up to version 148.02 there was no problem. I've check it on 2 machines with macos sequoia and the problem is valid.

Hello all,
I've been a long time Firefox user and recently (starting about 2 months ago) started seeing some irritating behavior while browsing. Firefox will at random intervals "gray out" either while interacting with specific webpage elements, or browsing specific websites. An example of this "gray out" condition is included as a screenshot. The browser will flicker between this "gray out" condition and the webpage, occasionally staying in the "gray out" state for 3-6 seconds. As you can see in the screenshot all Firefox UI elements are also missing, so this seems to be broader application issue. I've noticed this particular issue repeatedly on Amazon.com while moused over product photos.
I consider myself a power user. As for my PC, it is running Windows 10. All graphics drivers are up to date. Other apps run normally. I've never had any problem browsing/interacting with similar web content in Microsoft Edge... but I heavily prefer to use FireFox. Has anyone else encountered an issue like this?

I've just now noticed that whenever I open the website hxxps://www.hex-rays.com it will hang without finishing loading for a couple of seconds, then the entire browser will freeze. I've already tried on a new profile, verified that no addons or plugins are installed there, and no DLLs hooked into the process. This happens on my physical PC and in an (almost unused) VM, with an ancient version 134.0 and the latest 149.0.
Can anyone else replicate this? Should I create a bug report?
Firefox is using TOO MUCH memory that I have to terminate its process every hour. My Firefox is 149.0 on Windows 10 Pro.

For the last couple of days, the Firefox instance goes black and the title bar turns to an old windows look (see picture). Or turns fully blue, the color of browser theme, and the title bar is covered as well. There is no certain page that makes this bug appear, it appears randomly regardless of the page I'm visiting. Often it happens on the Firefox instance that is on the monitor I'm not working on at that moment. For example, I am browsing on my main monitor, and the 2nd monitor has a page open, the page in the 2nd monitor becomes bugged. It happens the other way too. Current Firefox version is 149.0 64 bit version, but i think it happened before the update too. I have already tried to turn hardware acceleration on and off again.
Firefox is randomly freezing, i have to close it from the taskbar and reopen but it just keeps doing it. Its been doing it for several weeks now.

Hi. Recently, a old issue has comeback on my firefox. When I load youtube video, or a twitch livestream, at 60FPS, and I scroll down the page, the scroll "lags" until the player is off screen. By lags i mean it slows down the scroll and is no longer smooth. This is an issue I've had before and had successfully dealt with by accessing about:config and turning media vp9 off, but it has returned fairly recently, since I do not remember this issue happening before the last week, maybe two. Another issue, also on youtube, is that when I scroll down through shorts, sometimes after a couple of videos, the browser will visually freeze entirely, but will still allow me to click things on the page and also play sounds. After about 20 or so seconds, it will unfreeze and work normally.
I understand that this issue, atleast the 60fps scroll lag, has been an issue for a while and I have tried multiple fixes for it, changing various boolean settings, refreshing firefox, updating my Nvidia drivers to the newest via nvidia app which i should add has never been an issue for the past few months and has worked flawlessly and my nighmarish evening of troubleshooting ended with me completely fully uninstalling firefox and redownloading fresh, but the issue presists.
It should be noted that on other browsers, I have no such issue. Im not sure if mentioning this is some sort of taboo or persona non grata, but i also downloaded and tested Waterfox, and it also does not have this issue. The only band aid fix I found for the moment is that turning off Hardware Acceleration fixes the scroll issue, but it causes awful screen tearing, which is just as bad and distracting.
So to my understanding, 3 potential things are happening. This issue is just in my head Something on my pc is dying and I have a mechanical or software problem Or finally, there is some issue with a recent update, either with firefox or maybe some driver somewhere causing an issue. It just upsets me greatly due to this being a relatively new issue. As stated I have dealt with the scroll lag before and did find a permanent fix, and firefox has since worked literally flawlessly for months/years. But now, somewhere within the last week, maybe 2, something has gone wrong. I hope this gets fixed in an update, or if others have this problem there is a fix. Thank you.

Hi, I use a website called Slickdeals which has a lot of thumbnail photos showing the product on the homepage.
Firefox seems to have a problem with it where Chrome does not.
Scrolling fast throws it off...the screen turns white and I have to wait for the images to load. Also, the scrolling tends to get choppy while using my touchpad scroll.
I've tried disabling hardware acceleration, disabling smooth scrolling, and clearing cache/history.
Sometimes the cursor lags about a second from the arrow to the hand pointer on links to click.
I have fast FIOS internet and a laptop with 16 GB RAM.
Thanks!
