A message that says :“A copy of Firefox is already open. Only one copy of Firefox can be open at a time.” keeps popping up when ever I try and reinstall firefox.

My Mac thinks that there is still a firefox running even though I deleted the old one. How can I get firefox to run again? After I updated to the new version of firefox I did not like it, so I wanted the old version back. I tried deleting firefox by bringing it to my trash. Now I am stuck and I cant even get the updated version running again.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

See "Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile":

There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.

If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.
