Ever since I updated to Firefox 96, I have been receiving the error message "Hmm. We’re having trouble finding that site." at times. Refreshing does help. This did not seem to happen with Firefox 95. I am currently on Firefox 96.0.2. I tried restarting the computer, tried refreshing Firefox, tried disabling hardware acceleration, etc., and the issue still persists.

You can try to disable DNS over HTTPS.

You can check the connection settings.

  • Settings -> General -> Network: Connection -> Settings

If you do not need to use a proxy to connect to internet then try to select "No Proxy" if "Use the system proxy settings" or one of the others do not work properly.

See "Firefox connection settings":

Hello cor-el. I have tried, and none of this helped. I did not have this issue before Firefox 96.

Who are you using for DNS? To see your current DNS settings, in a cmd prompt, type ipconfig /displaydns and press Enter. To delete the entries, type ipconfig /flushdns and press Enter.

I am using CIRA Canadian Shield for DNS. If I see this error again, I will get back to you.

You should do a traceroute to see how far they are from you.
