I use Thunderbird on a PC. It has began to open evry e-mail I select as a pop-up window. This is unusual for me, and I do not want it. I just want to open the e-mail inside those windows that already exist on the screen. It has been like that before. In settings I have selected to open e-mails in an "existing window" Is this korekt? Finally one more question: can I write in Danish here? It would be easyer for me to explain my problem in danish.

As the topic says, the message list turned from the usual dark-mode look, to a full black background after updating to 151.0.

Was this an intentional change? How can I revert it?

I NEVER want to mark all my email as read. How can I disable that functionality? I look forward to being able to also get rid of shortcuts that do not require ctrl, alt, or shift.

I had tbird set up just how I liked it on my laptop. Then the laptop screen hinge broke and I had to replace it. Have installed tbird on new machine but cannot find the setting I need. I want the message preview pane to be on the bottom instead of on the right side of screen. I also need to know how to import my contacts from the old machine.

I use Thunderbird 140.11.1esr with Ubuntu 24.04. I also use LibreOffice 26.2.

When using LibreOffice, if I want to delete a number of contiguous characters, I put the cursor at the start of the characters I want to delete, press the delete key and hold it. Holding down the delete key means that delete works its way through all the characters I want to delete.

When using Thunderbird, if I want to delete a number of emails, pressing down and holding the delete key doesn't result in the deletion of a number of emails. Instead, I have to keep pressing delete again and again.

Is there some setting in Thunderbird that I can change that will result in delete automatically working its way through all the emails I want to delete?

All of a sudden every time I open something in an email it automatically creates a new tab. When I delete what I have open it takes me out of my email account and I have to delete the tab to get back to my remaining emails. I have changed nothing so I am confused as to why it has recently changed.

I'm using Thunderbird for Android 19.2 from Google Play on Android 16.

When I try and send large-ish (around 1MB) messages they are not sent, and a notification "Failed to send some messages / Unable to Send message" appears.

This isn't a server restriction. The mail server it's connecting to is mine, and with a smaller message log entry "postfix/smtps/smtpd" appears. With larger messages no SMTP connection is attempted and no such message occurs.

How do I configure the size at which this occurs?

Hi. Now that the 'Open Link in Split View' has annoyingly replaced the spot previously held by 'Open Link in New Window' i keep clicking on it accidentally (muscle memory).

I don't want to have to retrain my muscle memory, but despite creating css file generated by Claude that should in theory remove the option, and putting it the Profile Folder, it will not go away.

How do i remove it?

Due to muscle menu or not needing to think about it. Split should either be near the bottom of the context menu or you should be able to toggle it in settings. The amount of times I have gone to click a link to open in a new window only to split the view is driving me crazy.

I want to collapse all folders in my email account.

I have a lot of them, and I don't want to close/expand them all individually. I want to quickly close all or expand all

Subject: Persistent Column and Folder Layout Issues — Not Being Saved Between Sessions

This is a follow-up to my previous support requests regarding two ongoing problems that significantly impact daily usability.

Column Settings I manage multiple accounts, and my preferred column layout is: Starred, Read Status, Attachment, Subject, From, and Date/Time. I do not use Threads, Correspondents, or Spam Status columns. Despite setting these preferences repeatedly, Thunderbird fails to retain them. Every day I must spend time reconfiguring columns across some or all of my accounts — the state varies unpredictably from one session to the next. This is a persistent, daily frustration that costs meaningful time. Most other major email clients save and reliably maintain column preferences. I'd expect Thunderbird to do the same.

Folder Panel Layout Two problems occur regularly when Thunderbird loads:

Folder order — Standard system folders (Inbox, Sent, Drafts, All Mail, Trash, Spam) should appear at the top of each account. Instead, Sent, All Mail, Trash, and/or Spam are frequently scattered among custom folders, with no apparent consistency.

Folder expansion — Most or all folders load in an expanded state, exposing every nested sub-folder regardless of whether they contain unread mail. This creates unnecessary visual clutter and requires manual collapsing each session.

Again, this behavior is uncommon in other widely-used email clients. Summary These are not one-time glitches — they recur daily and represent a significant usability gap. I'd appreciate confirmation that these are known issues being tracked, or guidance on a reliable fix. Reformatting the interface every morning is not a reasonable expectation for users.

When I open thunderbird, all my folders in each email open up. Is there not a setting to say don't open folders?

I am still waiting for you to remove Show All in config:editor. It was unnecessary and unwanted by your users. Just allow us to access config:editor the way we used to before this moronic change.
