Hi, I'm following up on this thread which is closed- https://support.mozilla.org/bm/questions/1483264 It describes an add-on: "DefaultColumns" https://www.ggbs.de/extensions/#dc. I could not find verification of safety for this add-on. I reluctantly installed but it wants permission to my whole computer so I uninstalled.

To me, this functionality is a necessary feature needed in Thunderbird. It merely creates default columns for all new subfolders. Could someone verify the safety of this add-on, recommend a safe option or add the functionality to Thunderbird. Thanks.

Not getting new messages

Around Jan. 4, I tried moving all of my Inbox contents to a new subfolder "Inbox 2025". This process was taking a long time and I didn't see it complete. Afterwards, I can start Thunderbird OK (version 115.3.1 (64-bit) running on a Windows 10 system). I see the new folder "Inbox 2025" and it seems complete. I also see other folders which look OK. But the incoming messages have frozen at 01/01/26 [for one e-mail account] and at 01/04/26 [for a second e-mail account.]

It is also true that all of my Thunderbird sessions end by crashing after a certain period of time. What can I do to restart Thunderbird so that it will connect with the relevant servers, get new messages and not crash?

Hello everybody. Since today or yesterday, my Thunderbird has stopped refreshing the list of messages. The number of new/unread messages in the Inbox and other folders is shown and updated right but the main window with the list of the messages does not get refreshed and only shows the last message from couple days ago.

I've tried to follow a bunch of guides and ideas (repairing folder, deleting .msf files...) and even removed the account and tried adding it again. The list of folders is right but now there are no messages at all. All folders look empty.

I've found out that in the folder on the disc where there are supposed to be the "INBOX.msf" and "INBOX" files, that the "INBOX" file without the file type is missing. And it's the same with every message folder, there are only .msf files on my PC where I removed and re-added the account. On my laptop, the "INBOX" file still exists but does not get updated.

This thing is happening with only one of my e-mail accounts, the others get updated fine and new messages are shown. It is IMAP server, imap.atlas.cz, Port 993, SSL/TLS with a password.

Can anyone help please?

Is there anyway of completely installing Thunberbird on a different drive and not have any stuff including symlinks in the users home directory?

Installing Thunderbird on a different drive/location is documented and straight forward but it insists on putting stuff in the users home directory C:\Users\<user>\AppData\ .

The problem can be fixed by using copying everything Thunderbird related in the C:\Users\<user>\AppData\ to the other drive and use symlinks from C:\Users\<user>\AppData\ directory to its new location. Thunderbird seems to be ok with symlinks.

Account Settings not saving changes

I was using Thunderbird Portable 136.0.1, from Portableapps.com . I then upgraded it to Thunderbird 146.0.1, by following Portableapp's instruction of installing the Port… (cytajśo wěcej)

I was using Thunderbird Portable 136.0.1, from Portableapps.com . I then upgraded it to Thunderbird 146.0.1, by following Portableapp's instruction of installing the Portableapp 146 version to the same path of the old installation.

I then I added an Office365 Business email account to Thunderbird, but there was a problem with the SMTP configuration. I tried to change it, but then I found out that there's something wrong with my Account Settings for all accounts; they don't save the changes.

Let me explain: if I right click an account and choose "Settings", a new tab opens [image 1]. Whatever changes I make there, to "Account Name", "Your name", "Color", etc. don't get saved; as soon as I switch to another account and come back they are gone.

This also applies for "Edit outgoing server..." at the bottom. It always reverts to "Default server" and then every time I want to send an email I must change the default SMTP settings to the right settings of that specific account.

The "Delete" button for deleting the account also doesn't work, if I click it nothing happens.

Interestingly, if I switch to "Server settings" or "Copies and folders" the changes there do get saved and are displayed correctly for the different accounts.

What can I do to solve this? I already tried Troubleshooting Mode to no avail. I am currently trying to install Thunderbird Portableapp to a different folder, how can I then import all local folders and accounts to this new install?

I have been using our work Mozilla Thunderbird account for two years and in all that time we have been unable to send emails from our usual email address (sales@freunduk.com) to anyone with a Gmail account. We get no bouncebacks and no indication to say that the email has not been received. Everyone else with other types of email account such as Hotmail or Outlook etc get our emails, but for some reason Gmail is blocked. We send invoices, quotes etc from Mozilla and for anyone with a Gmail account, not receiving our email is very inconvenient. We have put customers on stop for non payment and then realised they haven't received our invoice via email because they have a Gmail address. Can anyone shed any light on the matter please? Is there a setting we are missing which needs changing? I have tried to search previous questions on the forum but nothing has been obvious. All help appreciated.

After trying to fix it and nothing worked, I uninstalled and reinstalled Thunderbird. Now all of my contacts and data is gone. When I tried to use the import tool I selected import from another Thunderbird installation and I can't get past the continue button.

How do I recover all of my data and contacts/addresses?

When I installed it, I reloaded my email to set it up. I have lost all my latest emails, only getting them from 15 years ago. and today, nothing from this year. All my folders have also gone and my contacts.

Can someone please help, how do I fix it, I have emails from this year that I need to keep.
