How do I change the standard closing for my emails?

My computer crashed and so restarted it, when went to open thunderbird got a couldn't load XPCom message. Followed directions to reinstall thunderbird without using the uninstaller. When I installed it, I reloaded my email to set it up. I have lost all my latest emails, only getting them from 15 years ago. and today, nothing from this year. All my folders have also gone and my contacts.
Can someone please help, how do I fix it, I have emails from this year that I need to keep.
My sbcglobal email address is not allowing me to receive emails with attachments or emails that are forwarded. This just happened in the last few days
