I love an update when it makes something better. (Isn't that the point?) In the case of Thunderbird 78.4.0, what were they thinking?

You now have to hit Cc and Bcc on each email you write rather than have those fields show up by default, as has been the setup for years? Why?

For multiple Cc's or Bcc's, you have to separate them by a semicolon rather than have a fresh line for each, which to me is easier to read? What's the point of that change?

Is there no way to fix these (ahem) improvements? Terrible!

Also, in passing, I don't appreciate having auto-update checked by default. That's not how I have ever configured Thunderbird, and settings ought to stay as they were unless there's a reason and the user is notified.

why is there no back button on thunderbird? I clicked on a message (have to click twice on it now in the lousy upgrade I was forced to use), and now I can't go back to the inbox. What's up????

I accepted update to Thunderbird version 60.0 but my Add-on has been disabled as non-compatible (Magyar (HU) Language Pack (Thunderbird) 52.0 and Français Language Pack (Thunderbird) 52.0.). When trying to find Add-on, same versions I have already are proposed and they are no more compatible with Thunderbird version 60.0 What can I do to have again spelling check available in French and Hungarian? My husband and I have identical Thunderbird installations on identical Windows 7 machines, and for years we have been using 'QuoteAndComposeManager version 0.4.1. This allows us to set a 'pause' of 20 seconds between the time we click on Send and the email actually gets sent (it's amazing how many errors you can find in 20 seconds). This feature is still working fine on my machine, but on his it has been disabled with the message that it is incompatible with Thunderbird 60.3.0.

Two questions here: My update history shows that I am set for automatic updates, but the last one was to version 52.9.1 on 16 July 2018. This probably explains why I can still use the QandCManager, but why are we getting updates at different times?

More importantly, is there some other add-on that we can use to get this time-delay option? I have gone to the original developer's website but he does not seem to have a later version.

My Thunderbird version 52.9.1. First language = French Cannot upload DUTCH language package (as second language) because last version of complementary module appears to be corrupted. BA Brussels - Belgium 19-07-2018

Just wondering which theme/UI system the Thunderbird 60 Beta is using. In the older versions (including the latest v52.x build) my scrollbars still have top & bottom arrows. In TB Beta v60.x, those arrows are now gone. Would like to put them back where they belong, and don't want to have to hunt down some ugly, unmaintained theme to do it.

I am using Ubuntu 18.04 with latest Thunderbird (52.8.0). Normaly (in older verions of Thunderbird, like the one in Ubuntu 17.10), it was possible to just install a language like described here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-do-i-use-firefox-spell-checker in order to use the spell checker in a different language.

I clicked on "Sprachen -> Wörterbuch hinzufügen" and downloaded the german language packet. Now in "Add-ons-Verwaltung", there is "Deutsch (DE) Lanuage Pack", and it is activated. Unfortunately, if I right-click on any text, I still can not change to german. This did not change when restarting thunderbird. For "Wörterbuch" (Dictionary), the link for download is not present (while it is present for other languages, e.g. Afrikaans), but the link for "Sprachpacket herunterladen" keeps beeing there, even if I installed the language packet.

There are other users complaining in the comments section of the language pack: https://addons.mozilla.org/de/thunderbird/addon/deutsch-de-language-pack-thund/ (e.g. "Sprachpakete lassen sich nicht installieren. Anwendung ist völlig unbrauchbar!" means "Language packets can not be installed. Application is not usable at all." which may be an exaggeration.).

Is this still the right way to install a dictionary, or is the link to the dictionary maybe wrong? Can I install it somehow manually or by apt?

Before the Thunderbird 45.0 update came through, I used to use an ad-on called TT DeepDark. Since the update, I get an error message telling me that this add-on is not compatible with version 45.0. Because of a visual impairment, I depend on dark themes so that I can read more easily. I thought at first that it was something with that one individual add-on, so I searched for one to take its place. However, it appears that no theme add-on available through Mozilla is compatible with the latest version. Is there any kind of time frame for when this might be fixed?

I do know that things often depend on individual developer, but since every single theming add-on is currently nonfunctional, I know it isn’t something like dependent on an individual developer.

Is there any kind of workaround in the meantime? I really depend on that dark theme so that I can use Thunderbird more effectively.

I'm looking for the romansh language pack that works with the latest version of Thunderbird under Ubuntu. Where can I find it?

If so and I disable spotlight, what can I use to search my computer for attachments when I'm in Thunderbird? I disabled spotlight and now when I try to search my computer for files to attach from within Thunderbird the search feature doesn't work.

How do I have a search that works within thunderbird with spotlight disabled/

I've viewing Unified Folders in the left sidebar pane. I'm seeing all of my IMAP accounts (5) and folders and it's working perfectly. Below my Unified folders is Local Folders with one Search folder. I'd really like to have my Local Folder show at the top, above my IMAP account folders. Is there any way to do this... ?

This changed automatically two updates ago after working fine for many years. To be clear, I just want to have the message open in the existing window and not open in new window. As it is now, a second window opens, and if I click Reply, yet a THIRD window opens. Thanks!

Formatierung: In früheren Versionen konnte man die Formatierung auf "Normalen Text" einstellen, so daß auch nach einem <CR> bzw. <ENTER> kein Absatzabstand bzw. keine Leerzeile eingefügt wurde. In der neuen Version springt die Formatierungseinstellung nach jedem <CR> zurück auf "Absatz". Vermeiden läßt sich dies nur, wenn man kein <CR> nutzt, die Zeilen bis zum automatischen Zeilenumbruch beschreibt. In beiden Fällen entsteht ein sehr unschönes Schriftbild. Wie kann ich einstellen, daß die Formatierung stets auf "Normaler Text" bleibt?

Termineintrag: Im Menü "Einstellungen- Kalender-Erinnerungen" sind die Standardeinstellungen für Erinnerungen bei Terminen und Aufgaben auf "Aus" gesetzt. Trage ich einen neuen Termin ein, ist die Erinnerungseinstellung bei der Terminerstellung immer auf "Standard" gesetzt. Ich schalte sie dann jedesmal manuell aus. Warum funktioniert die Eintragung im Menü "Einstellungen" nicht?

i open an email from the inbox list while viewing email I delete it and nothing happens, i have the correct settings turned on in options same thing happens if i view an email and choose to move it to another folder it still does not return to the list

Thunderbird seems to be saving partial emails if I have not sent them with in 5 minutes of starting the email. This email is saved in BIN but is highlighted as not read. I took half hour to write one meail and now hav multiple copies saved of this email! How can I turn this function off?

I am using Google Calendar with Lightening. I have totally deleted an account from TB yet everytime I open the software it prompts me to enter pwd for the account. The account foes not show in the pane on either Google tab or regular calendar tab. What gives? The email account is completely removed from TB?

The other thing is that the Google calendar tab always defaults to Nov 2018 instead of current dates and always says Loading... in the tab???

I've been using TBD on Linux Mint since 2009. There used to be an extension that caused the taskbar button to go red when an email arrived in the inbox. A couple of versions ago it was removed as not being a compatible extension. My question is.... is there an updated version of this extension, OR (even better), could this be put into TBD as a feature? I've missed so many emails lately, I'm really missing this facility.

Currently using 60.4.0 (64-bit). Sorry I can't remember the name of the extension. I have searched, but can't find it.
